I (+1) will be arriving too late for dinner. We have to get to the hotel, check-in etc. But we might make it by 8:30/9:00pm. I'd guess that some might go for drinks?

Are you a PC Plat or Gold? I spoke with front desk and most of the guests are Gold or Plat..... I am on level 6

Yes absolutely. Canteen doesn't take reservations but is open from midday until late on NYE. I'll probably be there blowing up balloons...

Are there any restrictions on food, alcohol etc that can be brought to your room? I presume the hotel will want the names of all the guests in your room, and you need to carry photo ID on NYE?

I'll be checking in tomorrow pm after work, and have a room booked til 2.1.14 but am only planning to sleep there on NYE as I have to work on 31.12 and 2.1....and my own bed at home is more comfortable:shock:

Nothing has been said to me. I've just picked up some cereal and milk for breaky and will be going back shortly. Hopefully without hassle!

Good to hear the great variety of AFFers that will be at HI Old Sydney to see in the New Year.

I unfortunately could not make it despite making a reservation, however another lucky AFFer has gratefully taken my place

At the end, it's not much about the room (you'll either get a Harbour view or a laneway view), it's really the roof. Suggest a small contingent work out a "camp" plan for a good roof spot for the AFF crowd.
