Holiday Inn Wellington rebranding as Rydges

A big global hotel chain has pulled out of Wellington's $100 million Holiday Inn after a long-running dispute between management and investors who bought rooms there.


InterContinental Hotels Group said it would cease management and pull its name from the property.

It is a decent hotel (from memory), and although it's bad it's been lost from HI, I'm glad it's been moved to another hotel chain that I have loyalty to.

Probably the best hotel in Wellington and great PC recognition. Not great news

Sad to see it go! I had a good experience with HI Wellington. I would have preferred for it to stay that way.

But good to see HI gained Rotorua which I think is great for families travel.

I wonder if they'll give the place a facelift before Rydges takes over.

That leaves the IC WLG as the only PC property in town. WLG is not the place for chain hotels for sure (except for Quest).
