We are flying Perth to Singapore in mid Nov for my honeymoon as part of flights that will take us to the Philippines and I reckon it is one of the few opportunities I have to jag an upgrade on a flight. I am currently not a KrisFlyer member however our travel agent has put notes on our booking mentioning the fact we are on our honeymoon.

Is it worth our trouble registering as Krisflyer members to help our case? No likely to fly Singapore anytime in the next 12 months, any insight is appreciated.

Congratulations on the forthcoming nuptials and good luck on the upgrade.

You may have slightly more chance with a KrisFlyer membership, but unfortunately those with status will have more, and unfortunately you wouldn't believe how many people try the smile, we're on our honeymoon story at checkin

All I can say is good luck. I am in a similar situation in March, however with some planning and thinking outside the square, we have 2/3 legs in the premium product of the airline and the other leg we are wait listed.

Costing wasn't bad either coming out to around 1k each so pretty happy with that.

One final thing to consider do SQ offer paid on departure upgrades, or are they like QF? That could be your next avenue of approach if they do.

Congratulations and good luck but realistically don't like your chances. I have been flying with SQ for years and am gold KF and almost make PPS each year and still haven't managed to ever get an upgrade from Y to J. Having said that, still worth a shot.
