Hi, I've had some good advice here before and hopefully once again... i know there are threads on HKG layovers but i am looking for advice specifically for those sensitive to travelling with family (age 4, 6). We have 6 hours after a 6pm arrival in June to HKG. Wondering if anyone can suggest a kid-friendly relaxed itinerary that would involve stretching our legs, seeing a bit of the city, maybe dinner and then back in plenty time for our midnight flight?

Also on the way back we have a full day, arr 7am depart midnight for Sydney. That allows us to do plenty I guess. Any tips, suggestions, advice welcome.

We are on QFF point redemption flights, and altho Im platinum I doubt 4 of us are welcome in the lounge despite the new QF policy, since we are on Cathay.

Thanks in advance

Steve

With youngish kids you're probably best jumping the Airport Express to Hong Kong station which takes around 30 minutes, then head straight upstairs to the IFC mall for dinner, shopping, a movie or you can just walk around and take a look at the harbour (the rooftop garden is quite nice too especially in the evening).

No reason why you could not get into the QF lounge if the CX dragons said no, which I doubt, you only have 1 guest!

I'd be very surprised if you had trouble getting into either the CX or QF lounges.

That's what I would do.
On the full day on the way back: Disney. No contest.
I'm sure you will have no trouble in either the CX or QF F Lounges with your family, they have always been very welcoming when we have been there with kids.

Disney... !? Are the queues completely hellish? It would be a great end to a big trip if it was a fun day out instead of a queue-fest... i still shiver when I remember Tokyo Disney..... and thx for all the encouragement on the lounges - good to know.

Not really "Fast Pass" system is excellent. Easy to get to via the MTR complete with Mickey Ears windows :)
Most of the massive queues are at rides that your kids are too small for.
It's a great day out and would make them nice and tired for the night flight. We did it last October to stave off jetlag on a flight back from LHR

Steveward, last Oct I took my family and grand kids to HK. They were older than yours. 8,8 and 5. Today my daughter presented to me a photo album of the trip with comments from the kids.
They loved Disney. But the most memorable part of Disndey was the waffles ( go figure ) , This Disney is easy on the kids, smaller than most others, food not terribly expensive. No long cues. You will cover it in one day ( 2 would have been better ) .
