I am currently a HHonors Silver and will move to Gold shortly with an employer based incentive.

My question is, I have Qantas as a partner, so i earn Points and Miles, rather than Points and Points. Is this the best use of my Hilton points? I will use the points for @ Hilton for personal stays. I intend to stay approx 30 night in a Hilton this year at an average rate of US$ 175-200 per night.

Thanks

On my last trip December/January I took points and points for most stays as I had a points target for a redemption at Conrad Koh Samui later this year.

The only exception was when the triple Krisflyer miles promo applied.

It really depends on what you think gives you better value. All my travel is self funded for leisure so hotel points are harder to come by for me whereas Qantas and Velocity are more easily acquired with credit cards.

I also use the Macquarie Hilton card, which comes with Gold Status and a free night. While the earn isn't great 4:1$ there are often points bonus promos for using it at Hiltons. Last quarter it was 2,000 points per stay.

Along with the triple points, 5,000 app visa promo, 2,000 Macquarie bonus and diamond bonus points and points made sense to me but as always YMMV.

In my estimation, points and miles is better with 3x promos only. Any less than that, points and points are my preference. QF does from time to time have 3x promos, but I'd much prefer KF than QFF points if there's a choice (which often, there is).
