Hi all,

When in Asia, I usually aim for Accor (or sometimes IHG) properties, but there's not a lot going in Taipei - apart from the airport, most hotel options seem to be independent.

I'm interested to know if anyone has any recommendations for decent hotels in Taipei - near the main train station, or at least on a metro line into the city.

I've been checking Booking/Expedia/Agoda/Qantas Hotels - there seem to be a heap of options with lots of basement/no window rooms at the low end. Is this the way to go or can anyone offer some better advice? For context, I don't want to break the bank but staying in a tiny basement room isn't that appealing either!

I stayed at the Courtyard Taipei and was very happy, Actually very good transport links and the lounge was worth the money, Not to be confused with its sister property, Courtyard Taipei downtown

I'm happy to recommend CityInn Hotel Taipei Station Branch III, not to be confused with Branch II. On the budget side in case you're looking for a bit more premium!

Friendly staff. Reasonable prices for what you get, the rooms feel bigger than the size would suggest. Big bathroom too.
Up the road from Taipei main station. Maccas and KFC across the road. 7eleven not much further.
They have a kitchen you can use with free snacks and drinks throughout the day. Free laundry use also but very popular so i wouldn't count on it.

Hmm that's probably about it. We stayed there twice last year and heading there again next month!

The Sheraton Grand was my go to for many years in a good area, then Les Suites Ching Cheng, which has a happy hour 1700-1900, free pour coffee 24 hrs and again well located. The Westin featured the best breakfast I ever had and was not far from Ghengis Kahn Mongolian BBQ, sadly both have closed now, with the Westin becoming a JR Hotel, Hotel Metropolitan Premier Taipei

@Matt_01 tipped me into this place in 2023 and the wife and I were very happy with both the hotel and the location.

I am also normally an Accor user/abuser floating between Diamond and Platinum depending on the year.

The Landis is our normal go to in Taipei and have had several fantastic stays there. Superb breakfast and is close to transport.
Been far too long since our last visit unfortunately
