Anyone visited the museum and have any suggestions for hotels?
I don't mind if it's not next door, as long as there's transport options.
Cheers

Closest is 2 train stops away, holiday-inn weilimdorf
Reasonable hotel but anything in stuttgart city is ok as train is rather easy to take, 10-15 mins your there.

Have booked HI for Porsche museum visit in September.

If you look for drron's recent TR he gives a review of the LeMeridien (not favourable).

The Hilton Garden Inn looks good, but it's closer to the Mercedes museum (as best i can tell).

The public transport system throughout Germany is very good.Stuttgart is no exception so it is not that important where you stay public transport should get you there.I went to the Mercedes museum and on the road in you pass the Hilton garden inn.
So really just pick your hotel on what you hear from all sources. We did stay at Le Meridien-it was expensive and my reason for being disappointed was because of lack of recognition of SPG status-so that would not apply to everyone.

When are you there? I'm planning to visit both the MB and Porsche museums on the 26th. :)

(In amongst the Frankfurt Motor Show, Oktoberfest, driving around the Nurburgring again, driving flat-out on the 'bahn in something fast and sight-seeing the rest of Germany. It's going to be the ultimate boys' trip :D).

Cheers,
- Febs.

sorry, missed you Febs. Spent thursday 30 and friday 31 at Nurburgring, and Aug 1 and 2 in Stuttgart. Don't you love driving safely at 160 and getting passed at a RATE of knots by something exotic! :)

Ha, tell me about it. I'm not there until September, but when I was there in 2006 I had a 320d sitting on 235km/h (despite the manual listing a top speed of 220km/h), and only slowed down when I had to let a flying RS4 pass me! :D

This time I hope to be the one doing the passing though - booked an E92 M3 for 7 days. :D ($170AUD/day, bargain!)

Cheers,
- Febs.
