On my upcoming DONE4 I am considering AY flying DFW-HEL-LHR (I have a little time to kill). I thought that AY had recently killed their cheaper J flights that we could use?

Personally dont have EUR as my destination so havent explored these as yet...

I first achieved Plat in August 2002, mainly from a paid F RTW on top of a lot of domestic economy in discount whY.

Each year for the next 5.5 years that I was Plat was a mixture of medium (SIN, BKK) & long-haul (LHR) WT+ together with domesic economy (mostly in K class). Final year (2007) included paid Business (LA and QF) to/from AKL.

Dropped to Gold on 1 March and at present, looking at re-qual Gold (and possibly go back to Plat) on domestic economy (mostly K) and a couple of paid Business (LA) to/from AKL.

First made explat in 2007 with 1 DONE4 and 2 D fares BNE-JFK return.
Will fall about 14000 short this year because a planned BNE-JFK trip in december has fallen through as our son will be returning to Sydney to work,so will be with our granddaughter in Sydney rather than manhattan.
Hope I can buy the status for 2009.Already 2 DONE4s planned for 2009 so will get it back anyway.

A DAS13 + a whole heap of mostly medium/long haul whY flights. (Always taking the slightly long way for work, happened usually to be cheaper as well. eg MEL-SYD-SIN-PER-MEL instead of just MEL-SIN-MEL)

Next year it will be a DONE4 or similar that keeps my status, + a lot of whY medium/long haul flights for work.

I acheived QF WP around Feb 2007. My anniversary is May 31.

Requalified WP by August 2007.

All travel was Domestic, almost exclusively in J and to all capital and major cities from Sydney.

Would have acheived Partner Gold as well if didnt use corp jet as well.

Unless I get off my a$$ and plan this DONE4 for later this year I wont re-qualify however i plan on batting some eye-lashes and beg QF as I have A LOT of O/S travel planned in mid-09

I got my (recently expired :() CX Diamond (OWE) status through a series of 'events' :). And it would not have happened but for AFF.

Did an AA Plat challenge (BA WT+ MEL-SIN-MEL) in prep for a LONE4 crediting to AA which had to be canned at the last minute.

Not long before this AA Plat was due to drop to Gold I noticed at the large company I was working for CX were offering free membership and a status match. Being in Oz it was aimed primarily at QF but did not exclude others. The form said 'what level QF status are you'? I crossed out QF and replaced it with AA and wrote Platinum.

Nothing happened for 4 months, I had left the company and figured my application just went in the bin (wasn't really concerned), then out of the blue someone rang me and said we have a package here for you from CX.

To my surprise (and small delight), whether accidental, mistaken or deliberate, it was CX Diamond.

I do plan to earn OWS or OWE in a more conventional fashion as soon as things fall together with the work/leisure situation (unless of course something fortuitous like this happens again ;)).
