Mystery cars have been very cheap in the past couple of months, even cheaper than our company’s corporate rate.

I’d better start trying the mystery option. I’m in the middle of a Hertz booking now and will post further information

Date: 06 to 16 Jan 2020
Location: Melbourne Airport (both pick up and drop off)
Car Booked: SUV Compact (Group G)
Car Received: Nissan Eclipse LS Wagon (2,200 kms on the speedo - so nice new car)
Cost: $566 (with Amex CDP)

Gutless car if you need fast pick up, but once you’ve got it cruising, perfect. Racked up 1,200kms via Birregurra, Warrnambool, Port Campbell and Jan Juc. No service stations that we could find easily off the A1, so ended up at Mickleham Rd (Shell). Fortunately had built in time for that eventuality.

I always use the Shell that you went to as it’s never busy and is easy to get into. The BP on the airport property, although located adjacent to the terminal building area, is usually very crowded and I find it frustrating trying to line up at the bowsers.

I found it frustrating to find the correct route to the BP (you’d think they would put the fuel bowser icon on the signs at the approach to the Terminals but we couldn’t find one), so opted for one that I knew (having filled up at the Shell previously).

What use is a petrol station on the road exiting the Terminals.
