How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Status: Diamond
Property: Hilton Adelaide
Dates: 11-13 October
Booked: King guest
Received: King executive

Another lovely stay in Adelaide. Got a room on the 16th floor where the lounge is. Two bottles of water in the room, that's all for diamond recognition.
The hotel was fully booked during the weekend (a few groups and Cathay Pacific staff). It put a lot of pressure on the restaurant at breakfast. Waiting time was ~25 minutes. While waiting I had coffee in the lobby. No coffee tax applied here. Even when it was so busy the staff were very nice and did their best to serve everyone with a smile.
The exec lounge was also busy at 6pm but I could still find a place to sit. Food was ok, wine was ok, nothing special.

The best thing about this property is the warm service and excellent location. It's always my 1st choice when staying in Adelaide.

Property: Hilton Tokyo Narita Airport
Dates: 10 - 11 Oct 2013
Booked: Hilton Queen
Received: Deluxe Plus Queen

Quite a convenient hotel close to Narita airport with a regular shuttle to/from the property.
Not the newest of hotels around Narita though a large sized room & the double glazing effectively hushed the sound from the nearby airport precinct.
Two bottles of water in the room & American breakfast coupon as well as health club & 24 hour gym access.
Lovely view from higher floor overlooking the NRT runway.
Evidently a very busy aircrew hotel.
Breakfast was a full western & Japanese buffet spread with typical attentive service.
The only gripe was when one of the tour groups arrived in the restaurant with unsupervised screaming kids running amok disturbing the peaceful ambience.
My rating for this property: 7/10

Does anyone know if I book a 2br room at HSW I still get exec lounge access as a Diamond? I'm assuming so but just checking...

I've asked this very question - some time ago. The answer then was no. The 2 bedroom apartments are not executive level rooms apparently. If you are diamond you'll be ok as posted above, but as there is no upgrade path from such a room I'd say its a cough shoot as to whether a gold would get access to the lounge... probably not.

Checking before the flight to AUH had noticed that I had been upgraded to the King Exec Plus (which means a view of the water vs the carpark), even with notes in the res informing of an early am arrival, yet after waiting 90minutes due to the computers being down I was given a room on the top floor with a view of the carpark. Good executive lounge and very attentive staff up there. Gym/pool/beach across the road was very impressive, yet is really busy with locals over the weekend.

Hotel is quite aged (2nd eldest 5star in AUH I believe) and the room while tasteful felt warn out and looking a bit tired.

Sure while it may warrant all the negative feedback on tripadvisor and FT, for the price point ~70GBP/night I think its hard to really fault as a Diamond. Recently refurbished king executive room, which this time was looking out to Kensington high street at the end, even on level 6 I found it quite noisy possibly due to the windows not being able to lock totally. The shower/bath combo does have the worlds shortest roof, I'm only 175cm yet my head was just about touching the ceiling when I was having a shower, so would hate to think what would happen to others.

Executive lounge is pretty weak both disinterested staff and limited offerings and hence nobody seemed to be using it. Location is easy for the bus into the city and also Hammersmith tube station which has good connections to LHR and the city.

:)) I'm rarely impressed by hotels these days but this Hilton is very nice and very new. There is a Hampton Inn too, under the same roof.) It is located at the England Football Association's centre for excellence so has lots of memorabilia on display if you like that sort of thing. The King Suite was absolutely huge.

*The England Football team were staying there ahead of their world cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland. Fortunately they did not bother me for autographs and I suspect a couple of tips^ I offered may have helped them in their 4-1 win over Mopntenegro. :p

^Seems highly unlikely!!

I agree the hotel is a bit dated next to some of the behemoths being built in AUH. I very much enjoyed my stay there earlier this year as the staff were really attentive, and a good selection of food in the lounge. Although having a choice of only Fosters or Budweiser beer was a bit poor.

Property: Hilton Darwin
Dates: 15-20 October (hotel booked out for 15-17 Oct on check-in)
Booked: King Guestroom (AAA rate: $322)
Received: King Exec Harbour View

Quite a dated property, with service efficiency slightly short although mostly friendly with a degree of reservation from the staff. Noted that this building was taken over by Crowne Plaza about 6 months ago, and still being lifted in many aspects of the hotel. Small exec lounge, decent wine and limited food, but not bad. Only 1 floor staff at anytime. Disappointed with breakfast only offered to be in Exec Lounge, and $10 surcharge per head if to be had in main restaurants. Never experienced in any other Hilton I have stayed at. Exec Lounge breakfast described to be continental, with hard boil eggs only (no other egg options) and had no bacon/sausages, mushrooms or spinach or anything hot other than a bread pudding. What's on offer was however decent quality inc some cold cuts, cheeses, cereal, muesli, couple of different pastries, your regular toast and jam included.

Hilton Brisbane also charge extra for Golds to have the full buffet breakfast.

As do HSP.

Don't know if it's changed or not but HSW only allowed breakfast in the Exec Lounge for Gold and downstairs was a supplement. It's been a couple of years since I was Gold here so my info may be out of date.
As a comparison in LHR, Hilton Tower Bridge allow Diamonds buffet breakfast in restaurant but not allowed the a la carte option, Gold is in the small exec Lounge, must pay for restaurant brekkie.

Last time I was there Gold and Diamonds could eat downstairs without an extra charge. I don't think I have ever had breakfast in the exec lounge at HSW.
