How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Last two stays of this year in MEL:

DT - King Interior - King City View
HSW - King Guestroom - Yarra Suite

Amazing status recognition by HSW this year with fantastic service to match. Best Hilton in Australia!

HSW ... Best Hilton in Australia!
Good to hear, but I disagree. HSW may be the best in Oz for those that get the benefits, but some of us receive no upgrades and nothing more than base benefits, which make it an OK hotel that's located in an out of the way area. I think the perception of "best" will vary from person to person as they all seem to go the extra yards for their regular guests. Being most likely the newest of the Oz Hiltons does certainly have appeal though.

Upgrades aside, I think even the basic rooms at HSW are much nicer than any other Aussie Hilton and the exec lounge is one of the best (together with HSYD).

A little hit and miss. Had to call for complimentary water to be delivered.
On check in, told to enjoy full breakfast in the restaurant due to their being no lounge. First morning, restaurant insisted we were entitled to continental breakfast only; we queried and were told she would check, but never came back to us.
On second and third mornings, not given any such instruction and enjoyed full hot breakfast.

Booked 2 x Guestrooms and 2 x Exec Rooms.
Received 1 x Guestroom and 3 x Exec Rooms.

After some debate at check in, my upgrade was one of the guestrooms to an executive room. As I booked 4 rooms did ask for one suite but was told none available even though I could see a suite available for purchase.
Was granted exec lounge access for the guestroom and free breakfast for the 2 staying in that room.

As all 8 of us got into the lounge and had free brekky downstairs I'm not complaining, that's all I really wanted.

The property was quite busy with the cricket and a wedding but the lounge was empty.

What does the fully flexible rate mean ? if prepayment is required?

20 PCT OFF FULLY FLEXIBLE RATE: The rate is 20% below the fully flexible rate.

FULL PREPAYMENT REQUIRED NON REFUNDABLE: It's a pre-pay non-refundable rate.

... unless I've missed something.

Perhaps they could have made it easier to read by using some punctuation: e.g., "20 PCT OFF SALE: 20 PCT OFF FULLY FLEXIBLE RATE. BOOK BY 9 FEB. FULL PREPAYMENT REQUIRED. NON REFUNDABLE".

H-BNE. No discernible upgrade, but we did actually want the 2 x double bed booked layout, so not an issue. The 12th floor was a bit of a disappointment though. Coffee tax strictly applied, however to be fair, they more than happily allowed 4 of us into the exec. lounge and for breakfast, which more than offset the tax. Overall, nice stay and exceptionally handy for O'Malley's AFF drinks.

Property: HH LHR T5
Status: Diamond
Booked: Twin room
Received: Exec twin room
Date: November 2016

We landed at LHR at about noon so jumped on the H57 Hoppa bus to take us to the hotel. £5 ow/£9 ret. They had a room ready so we headed upstairs and dropped off our bags. At checkin we were offered breakfast either in the lounge or in the downstairs restaurant. The front desk initially suggested a £70 private car would be a good way of getting into the city. We settled for a £30 Uber ride. If we had more time, I would have investigated the public buses.

When we got back from our day in the city (£35 Uber) there was a half bottle of Merlot and some chocolate fudge. :) Breakfast the next morning was had downstairs and was reasonable. The sound insulation in the property is excellent as we did not hear a thing, and the hotel is under the flight path. We were reminded of this when we stepped outside the next morning for our return to the airport.

The only issue I have is with the name - It is a ten minute bus ride from T5, so it is a bit misleading to call it the "Hilton LHR T5".

Edit: to add, no coffee tax.

Booked a standard King (Hilton Brisbane) and managed to pre-book a room on Level 10.
Arrived to upgrade to Deluxe King Level 21. Nice view!
Breakfast in main lobby was just a $10 extra for full buffet which was very nice.
Not totally impressed with the rooms though as very dated.

My Amex offer was Spend $300 or more and get $150 back.

Checked out to find that all bar drinks purchased hadn't been billed. (Approx $50)

Total bill on C/O was $285.00 which included pre-checkin drinks but not the evening drinks.

Manager decided not to charge us evening drinks as it was not our fault they got missed.......I've never felt so upset to get free drinks!

I'm so sick of such BS - I do hope you've given feedback about being lied to.

Service standards in Australia can be very low sometimes. I've recently booked 4 standard rooms at Hilton Millennium BKK and received welcome email offering either one suite upgrade or two executive rooms. This is how it supposed to be done, in advance, while most room categories still available and then no one needs to make up stories at check in.

This grinds my gears as well. There should be some kind of rule against it. Earlier in the year I stayed at the Hyatt Place Miami Airport/West Doral. The shuttle ride was more than 15 minutes, without any other stops along the way. It's so far away from the airport there's only a couple of scheduled shuttle services a day. It would be like saying Hyatt Place Sydney Airport/St Leonards. What a joke.

Property: Hilton South Wharf

Room booked: King Hilton
Rate: $230 Gov't
Date: 18 NOV
Received: King Executive.

This was possibly the worst stay I have had at HSW.

No usual UG but that's fine as they were heavily booked. I however get the closest room to the elevators which is the opposite to my profile. Breakfast was fine except for the dreaded coffee will cost $3.50 are you OK with that?

NO. This lead into quite a discussion about a whole bunch of things from the value of different types of breakfast to why the coffee tax even exists. (I knew but the staff didn't) Notes, though I'm not sure what, were added to my profile and I got a personal goodbye from the Duty Manager.

The guy next to me had two large plates of hot breakfast and no coffee and I had cereal, toast and coffee. Which cost them the most I wonder?

NOT HAPPY so I'll be interested to see what occurs when we arrive for the 16th & 17th December.

That's not good news given the amount of stays you have there. If I recall correctly, the HSW barista coffee is quite good and at $3.50 a cup is priced about right if they are intent on selling them (although not the point, I know). H-BNE coffee is $5, in a small cup and not all that good (plus it took forever to arrive). That's poor value given the range of coffees one can get in the mall outside.

Room booked: King Guest Room
Rate: $299 AAA - Booked 3 days out - Rates rose to $480 day of stay.
Date: 3 Dec
Received: King Guest Room

First stay at DT Melbourne after quite a few stays at HSW - It's definitely no HSW but the location is what get's you and will now be our preferred Hilton property to stay in when we need a night away from home - Especially when HSW is regularly $450+

Continental breakfast was free for the 2 of us but advised of the $10 upgrade to hot - We didn't as the selection was poor. We were told we could order a coffee and my wife did - after that I explained that it will be charged (it wasn't explained to us) but I didn't fight it. Perhaps I should have as it was very ordinary coffee for $4.50.
