How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

This thread has gone quiet lately so thought I should add something before it goes too far down the page and becomes hard to find.

Sydney Hilton
Status: Diamond
Date: 1st -3rd July 2 nights
Booked: Base room from the last sale at $160/night
Received: Relax room.

You can no longer check in at the lounge due to the lift requiring a room key to scan to access the floor.

They now have pancakes at breakfast although not out everyday but can be ordered.

That new security caught me by surprise too but it made sense considering there’re rooms on the 36th floor and their security is just as important as other floors’. You can still check in at 36 if you ask the concierge. Afternoon tea has been reduced down to scones only which was disappointing. More changes to the exec lounge staff as well. By the way, do they still give out the 500ml St Hallett at the Deluxe Plus rooms?

They had people entering the lounge that did not have access is what I was told.

It was sad to hear she was leaving, its was nice to have someone in the lounge that did not make you feel too old.

I rarely get a deluxe plus room anymore, there was a bottle last time but that may have been 6 months ago.

You must be close to 75 stays by now if not already past it.

I’ve been sharing my stays with West who have been treating me really well with suites upgrades as well and I actually like their made to order breakfast much better than HSYD’s. Having said that HSYD staff are almost like family now and they have always tried their best to allocate my preferred room which I’m very grateful for.

Writing this from the lounge at Conrad Macau

Hotel: Conrad Macau
Status: Diamond
Booked: cheapest base room
Received: King deluxe suite

Now this thing is massive!!!! bigger than some apartments I've seen with a movie room, sitting area, huge bathroom with a whirlpool spa - it's absolutely insane but very Macau.

The lounge is quite good with some ok wines, champagnes and even Sangria which I am sipping on. The staff are extremely attentive and genuinely friendly.

Given how cheap this property is it is excellent value and well worth a visit particularly if HKG is pricing a bit high.

Hotel: Conrad Hong Kong
Status: Diamond
Booked: corporate rate for standard room
Received: King executive harbour view with one night in Harbourview Suite

Fortunately this one was on work as I was a little underwhelmed with this property given the hype and the price a leisure traveller would have to pay. The decor is a bit old and the Suite was basically a sitting area connected to an executive room. The view is unbeatable and the lounge is quite nice but if it was on my own dime I'd seriously consider the value.

This sounds more like Conrad Hong Kong?

Conrad Centennial Singapore
Status: Diamond
Date: 5th-8th July 3 nights
Booked: Base room on sale SG$259/night - including taxes
Received: Upgraded to executive floor, not sure of the room name?

On arrival: chocolates, a fruit bowl, and several bottles of water

I was also able to use the executive lounge (31st floor)- breakfast was great: chef to cook omelette/ poached etc. Friends joined me for the coughtails and champers and we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display. Great service, loved my stay.

I have tried the Curio a couple of times and found the breakfast a nice change from Sydney but I still prefer Glass. Plus I don't wont have to start again having to build up my stays to get regular upgrades. I have a stay this Friday and was surprised to have already been allocated a relax suite.
(checking room availability for the next 4 nights shows no rooms above exec level which explains the early upgrade, also means the Lounge will be most likely busy)

Fantastic diamond recognition as usual at this property.
The suite I got this time seems to be refurbished as it was slightly different than others I got previously.
Had breakfast in the lounge which was much less crowded than the restaurant downstairs. Buffet was quite rich and service was very attentive.

I'm travelling to New Orleans in October for a conference, unfortunately the Hilton Riverside is already booked out (where my friends are staying). I used the chat service on the Hilton website and they mentioned that as a Diamond member I should be able to secure a room, and gave me an email address to contact. I received this as a response "I am unable to assist with your request due to the time sensitivity of rates and availability.." - who knows what that means?! Disappointing that there aren't consistent messages.

I suspect chat gave you the generic info that Diamonds can sometimes secure a guaranteed room at an otherwise (over)sold out hotel. I assume the Chat service isn't a real person, and probably wouldn't have actually checked the hotel you want.

If a hotel is really oversold or the property deems the period to be worthy of a blackout then the Diamond guarantee will not be offered.

If you can't see a room rate at all online -- not even the "48 Hour Diamond guarantee"-- then it's not available.

I've never booked it but it has sometimes come up as an option for me and it's usually the bare minimum room at the full rack rate. Not that attractive.

As kermatu has said, they were likely referring to the Diamond Guarantee. I have only used this once as I really wanted the room on a particular night (my 50th birthday coinciding with a total solar eclipse over the hotel in question … not your every day event). It worked, but very expensive as full rack rate applied as stated previously.

One other time I did try to use it and it was refused. (I think the figure is something like 20% oversold = no guarantee offered).

Maybe. I think I've only used HH chat once and pretty sure I was given an email address or click a button to have my query forwarded to the relevant team. Felt very generic and simple response to key words. Immediate availability of an 'agent' also makes me suspicious. I suspect lots of chats start generic and automated and a real person may intervene later - but I don't know.

Bit poor if it was a real person to not actually check the hotel for you on the dates in question and give a correct answer.

I work in the industry. They’ll be using chat templates and canned responses. Expectation is probably for a single agent to handle 3 or 4 chars concurrently.
