How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: Hilton Garden Inn New Delhi / Sarket

Booked King room

Received king room - don’t think they do anything higher

Diamond benefits. Full breakfast for 2 including coffee. Bottle of wine and fruit bowl in room

Rate circa $160 aud

Nothing particularly special about this hotel. It was reasonably convenient to the airport for a midnight arrival from HKG and access to the freeway to Agra. Great staff though.
I am staying at the DEL DT next month, so it will be interesting to compare.

Property: Parmelia Hilton Perth
Booked: Queen guest
Rate: $150, one night. Booked via front office a couple of weeks before stay.
Received: Queen deluxe plus
Status: Silver
Elite treatment: Breakfast, two waters, one tapas voucher, upgrade in advance, bottle of wine, free room service snack, 6pm checkout no charge.

So this is an odd one. Late arrival with meetings early morning followed by a red-eye flight back to east coast then on to Auckland (such a shame there's no longer a red-eye flight to AKL from MEL). Took a punt on the Parmelia based on good service recovery in the past. Rate was OK but not great.

Arranged a room upgrade and wine (in lieu of tapas) plus a 6pm chck-out for $40 in advance with front office. Only after booking did I realise I would drop down to silver status at the time of the stay. I let my contact know and she graciously said she'd honour the Diamond privileges. Very nice.

On check-in the lovely Carol acknowledged that despite my silver status I had an upgrade, plus a tapas voucher and a late check-out for $40. She also gave me a comp breakfast which was appreciated. What's the point of staying here if you can't see Jono at breakfast?

No wine in the room so when I contacted Carol to let her know I said actually I'd prefer the $14 toasted sandwich than the wine. She instantly called room service to arrange. In the end I received the fabulous sandwich and a bottle of wine. No charge. The $40 late check-out also was waived (though I have let my contact know this may be a mistake so I'll pay up if required).

Great service from Jono and (unprompted) another young server who looked after me really well.

Redeemed the tapas and drink voucher the next evening before heading to the airport.

Location and service make this a viable option, though the DT is also exceptional.

Two stays at Hilton Sydney in the last two weeks (Friday and Saturday, one week apart). Booked cheapest rate each time.
Friday: Paid $192 - received Relaxation Room upgrade the day before in the app. Beautiful ham at Glass for breakfast.
Saturday: Paid $285 - no upgrade at all, hotel was supposedly full, placed on one of the lowest levels. Nothing special at breakfast. Interestingly, it was the first time in over 20 stays that I had a TV in the shower. :D

Property: HH ADL
Booked: King Hilton room
When: April
Received: Suite

My first suite at the ADL HH (and second real upgrade). A fabulous room, that really was wasted on me as we were out Sat night, and gone early Sat.

Oh well, at least I can now claim to have had a suite upgrade in Adelaide!

That's quite a bender! I'm there for a few days later in the year as a Diamond and an upgrade to a suite would be more than agreeable. I need to be on best behaviour though.

Are all of these on the room service menu as a single menu item? If so, it’s fantastic value!
Yes, including the 24 hour menu. Toasted ham, cheese & pickle turkish bread sandwich, chips, piece of fruit, bottle of water and little salad. $14 (plus $5 tray charge which has always been waived for me -- this time the whole thing waived).

Hilton Colombo

Booked King Room

Received King Corner Suite

Rate US$125

Breakfast actively encouraged in the restaurant rather than the lounge. They seem very focused on the treatment of Diamonds and getting a high feedback score so they are going out of their way to look after us. Really nice hotel from a public space and amenities view. The rooms don’t seem to have had an interior decorator look at them for a long time. Feels a bit like the Parmelia dated in it decor but something you love nevertheless due to the staff

Property: Hilton Sydney
Booked: Hilton Guest Room - AAA Rate
Paid: $190
Received: King Hilton Executive Room
(4 level jump, Hilton Guest Room > Hilton Guest Room Plus > King Hilton Deluxe > King Hilton Deluxe Plus > King Hilton Executive Room)
Status: Silver

So I received a pretty "decent" upgrade for a Silver from the basic room to an executive room for a stay tomorrow. I was advised I received the upgrade via online check in.

That said there is hardly any difference between the rooms, a higher floor and a bath tub are the only tangible differences. I don't believe I will be getting any other executive floor benefits as I am only Silver.

Coming from Diamond last year I do miss the Suite upgrades but I wasn't expecting any upgrade as a Silver so that is good!

Property: Hilton Durban
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Executive, hotel fully booked.
Rate: Standard Room Reward,
27,000/night
Status: Diamond.

Diamond status acknowledged.
Told breakfast in lounge. Rang reception later to ask if could have breakfast in restaurant, operator didn't know so had to wait while she went to find out. Confirmed yes we could.
Breakfast is outstanding IMHO but haven't asked for a barista coffee.
Plenty of staff, all very friendly and helpful.
Lounge is disappointing. On first night wine wise, only a half bottle of red was out. It was replaced one bottle at a time as it was consumed. White appeared when it was asked for. I didn't realise there was a famine in Durban. I asked for some crackers to go with the cheeses. About 5 minutes later the staff member returned with about 10 or 12 on a plate, not for me but placed on the counter me t to the cheese board. Suffice to say they lasted about 30 seconds. Food selection is quite poor. Tables in lounge not wiped down so some are certainly dirty. The lounge could be fabulous as it is quite large and has some very nice seating.
We just need some Brisbane staff here to show them how a lounge should be run.

If you have been upgraded to an exec room you will receive exec benefits.

The staff here at the Hilton Durban are very obliging. Checking out early (11:30) even though I have a late checkout, I was asked how long I would like lounge access for. Diamond love!

How did your stay go on Thursday, banana0692? Did they provide access to the EL?

Property: Conrad Hong Kong
Booked: Deluxe King
Rate: HKD$2,132 Corp Rate incl. bfast
Received: King Executive Harbour Suite
Status: Diamond
Elite treatment: Executive lounge, chocolates, fruit platter

Fantastic upgrade from a base room for 2 weekend nights. Really impressed with the property, in general, though the lounge (aside from its views - which are the same as my suite above it) has been a little underwhelming.

Cheers,
Matt.

Conrad HK is usually generous with upgrades. I also have two weekend nights there coming soon, fingers crossed for similar outcome.

Property: Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri
Booked: King Deluxe Room
Received: King Premium Room with Rome View

Words can’t do justice to this amazing property, it’s definitely one of a kind hotel and I was excited to come back again, this time for 4 nights stay.

Got two levels upgrade which for WA is above and beyond. Full breakfast is now included for diamonds at all WA properties but unfortunately it comes on the expense of drink vouchers. Last time I stayed there was offered only continental breakfast (which was not enforced) plus two drink vouchers per day.
The room was large, well furnished with nice balcony and panoramic views of the city. We got bowl of fruit and chocolates on the first day and two (glass) bottles of Italian water every day.
Diamond members get complementary access to the WA spa and Turkish Hammam something we took advantage of twice a day, before breakfast and after dinner. The spa is very luxurious and some people stay in this hotel just for that. There are also two swimming pools, one large outdoor and smaller one indoor.

Breakfast was served either in the restaurant or outside by the pool. Not the most extensive buffet compared to some hotels in Asia and also no a-la-carte option but the quality was high and that’s what is most important.

The hotel sits on the tallest out of 7 hills of Rome which means taking a shuttle to and back from city. There is complementary shuttle almost every hour, the ride take approx 25 minutes. Some may see it as disadvantage but the spectacular view from the hotel worth it IMO.

The hotel also has what is known as the best restaurant in Rome - La Pergola - 3* Michelin sitting on the top floor. Tasting menu plus wine will cost about €400 per person. We gave it a miss this time.

We gave it a miss this time.
I took a jacket with me just for this. Left it in the room after. SWMBO loved the dessert tower.

It's been some years, but for our three night stay we were able to do a Nor1 upgrade for ~€70 per night which gives lounge access.

Yea I remember the good days. Got lounge access for €95 back then. On my recent visit they wanted €280 extra! As much as the imperial lounge is impressive I’m not paying that much.

Property: Aleph hotel Rome
Booked: Comfort Room
Received: King Prestige Room

Located near Piazza Barberini, two minutes walk from the WA shuttle drop off which was convenient as we came over after finish our stay there. Location wise the hotel is already a winner. In the heart of old town within walking distance to all the major sites (we didn’t need to use taxi or metro at all).

The original building used to be a bank, then hotel before it was refurbished, rebranded and joined the HH family recently.
Interestingly the property is owned by Qatar yet the meaning of Aleph is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet (I’ve asked and there is no other meaning to the name).

I must admit moving from WA which is the top HH brand to Curio created low expectations. How good can this hotel be... Well, it’s very good! From the moment you enter there is a feeling of luxury. While WA is over the top extravagant luxury this Curio is much more refined with softer colours.

We got few levels upgrade from base room to King Prestige which was decent size with nice amenities. The mini bar was complementary and fully stocked with 12 bottles of water, juice and coke. There was Nespresso machine as well. Later we received a chilled bottle of Prosecco, bowl of fruit and chocolates which I assume are the diamond amenities.

There is rooftop pool with bar and restaurant which was very popular in the afternoon (Curio hotels don’t have lounges). There was also cigar room near the lobby and we were offered complementary cigar and whiskey tasting which I assume is another diamond amenity and a very nice touch!

In the basement lever there is 24/7 gym where the old bank safe used to be (they kept the original door) and spa with Turkish bath, similar to WA Cavalieri and even slightly nicer!

Overall I was impressed by Aleph and obviously others agree as the hotel was fully booked during our stay.

Haven’t seen any reports from this hotel yet so I’ll attach some photos for reference.
