Property: Aleph hotel Rome
Booked: Comfort Room
Received: King Prestige Room
Located near Piazza Barberini, two minutes walk from the WA shuttle drop off which was convenient as we came over after finish our stay there. Location wise the hotel is already a winner. In the heart of old town within walking distance to all the major sites (we didn’t need to use taxi or metro at all).
The original building used to be a bank, then hotel before it was refurbished, rebranded and joined the HH family recently.
Interestingly the property is owned by Qatar yet the meaning of Aleph is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet (I’ve asked and there is no other meaning to the name).
I must admit moving from WA which is the top HH brand to Curio created low expectations. How good can this hotel be... Well, it’s very good! From the moment you enter there is a feeling of luxury. While WA is over the top extravagant luxury this Curio is much more refined with softer colours.
We got few levels upgrade from base room to King Prestige which was decent size with nice amenities. The mini bar was complementary and fully stocked with 12 bottles of water, juice and coke. There was Nespresso machine as well. Later we received a chilled bottle of Prosecco, bowl of fruit and chocolates which I assume are the diamond amenities.
There is rooftop pool with bar and restaurant which was very popular in the afternoon (Curio hotels don’t have lounges). There was also cigar room near the lobby and we were offered complementary cigar and whiskey tasting which I assume is another diamond amenity and a very nice touch!
In the basement lever there is 24/7 gym where the old bank safe used to be (they kept the original door) and spa with Turkish bath, similar to WA Cavalieri and even slightly nicer!
Overall I was impressed by Aleph and obviously others agree as the hotel was fully booked during our stay.
Haven’t seen any reports from this hotel yet so I’ll attach some photos for reference.
