How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

What is the $10 breakfast tax at the sydney Hilton? Is it for the full breakfast buffet, I'd assume the EL breakfast is still available?

Also didn't they just finish "renovating" the lounge recently and now it's out of action again?
No charge for EL breakfast. The recent move of EL to Glass is not renovation related. I understand there are ELs in other hotels shutting and consolidating with other facilities to increase efficiencies and reduce cost. As the EL is now in Glass, I have no idea how that separation is going to be managed.

COVID-19 is going to be a big disruption to the entire hotel industry.
Personally I think this is a bad time to nickel and dime elite loyalty members.

I am seriously considering whether I will be continuing with HH in the next couple of years.
A good example is the DT Flinders Street Station, my HH membership is the only reason I stay there.

I have exactly 0 HH stays booked for this year, likely to stay that way too.

I doubt they knew much (or anything) about COVID-19 when the policy was being formulated.

Talking to Hilton staff (in Australia) over the past few days.

They are in crisis mode.

Corporate travel has stopped and tourist travel is disappearing. Who would come as a tourist to Australia? And even domestic tourism is uncomfortable for many.

I've just had my diary for the next 2 weeks cleared out completely, had quite a few dinners, parties, etc. arranged ...... all gone, so no surprise the same is happening with travel too.

Hilton Brisbane this week. The hotel seems to be almost empty.

I was informed during checkin that there will be a $10 surcharge for a hot breakfast in the restaurant for Diamonds. However, the EL “deluxe“ complimentary continental breakfast has some hot items. This morning: bacon, sautéed mushrooms and scrambled eggs.

The hotel restaurant was near-deserted for dinner tonight. Same with the Lobby bar (all day).

Only about 12 people in the EL for drinks and nibbles each night during my two-night stay. Quite a good spread, and great service from the staff. However, the EL will be relocating to the hotel restaurant area from this coming Monday.

Hilton Brisbane stay in March as Diamond member.

Checked in late but was sent 2 beers and fruit to my room as I missed happy hour.

Was told by staff to skip the lounge for breakfast due to its limited offerings and go straight to the buffet in the restaurant as it was free for diamond members. After checking out both this is good advice.

Standard offer of late check out but had to go to work at 9am so didn't use it.

Great room and some of the best service I've come across in Hilton hotels in the American and Australian properties I've stayed at.

I imagine that things have got a lot grimmer over the past months. Certainly travel restrictions haven’t helped. No-one posting about stays since March.

Doubletree Perth Northbridge

Had a one night stay last night due to a late finish/early start for work.

Sale rate was base King room for $100 with early checkin/late check out included (which we didn't use). We were upgraded to a 'Panaramic View' room in the corner away from the lifts as per my preferences.

It seemed lke the top two floors were closed. The only room types being sold were king/twin or panoramic view which is the same room just a higher floor.

Rooms had a seal placed on them after cleaning that was broken when you opened the door. No housekeping unless requested (not an issue for a one night stay).

Lounge has been closed permanantly and the restaurant was also closed for breakfast (possibly closed all day as no one was in there when we checked in but it was about 5pm). The bar was open but I din't go in.

I was told on check in to fill out what we wanted on this form and the time we would like it delivered to the room.

They said that the room continental would be free as a diamond and the full breakfast would be $5. This ended up not being charged. Coffee tax was $3.50 but we didn't order any so this may have been waived.

Just left Hilton Brisbane today after a 2 day stay as Diamond. Met with upgrade which was nice however EL is now closed so they gave us 1 drink voucher each per night with nothing in way of snacks etc. Breakfast was continental included but now usual $10 for hot options and served in atrium bar as restaurant seems to only be open Sunday and Monday nights. All breakfast was served at same time so cold eggs etc as you were eating the cereal etc first. All balanced on a small table with hard to sit and eat chairs.
Menu for lunch and dinner was mostly burgers and pizzas at 5 star prices but 1 star options so we chose to eat out as this was also only available in the atrium bar:
If that is the best they can do for a diamond they have just lost a lot of business. A $10 drink voucher and a $5 saving off the normal cost of a cooked breakfast when you spend thousands a year on their brand is just stupid customer service even allowing for the Covid impact yo business.

anyone had any experience with Hilton Sydney lately? Is EL still closed? What is in its place?

I don't believe it is as I have a booking there in 2 weeks time

Ok, strange. Both Curio and Hilton don't accept new reservations in August and September so I assumed they closed (like DT MEL) or just accept quarantine guests.
