How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Property: Conrad Centennial Singapore
Nights: 3
Status: Diamond
Booked: Grand Deluxe King (floors 13-17)
Received: Exec King.
Rate: Govt
Breakfast: Yes, Lounge or at Oscar’s
Lounge Access. Yes
Early / late check-in / out: 2pm check- out offered when I mentioned late flight.
Amenity: See pic below. Plus Turn down service; 4 waters in room replenished when needed during room refresh or turn down; newspaper offered (declined): 20% spa discount (also not utilised).

Upgrade showed maybe 1 day out, so decided to do online check-in. Rooms on multiple floors available but not 31. Chose one on level 30 with the better view and no daytime sun.

At check-in around 10pm was advised had been given room on level 28 on the other side. Wasn’t particularly happy but also knew no suites were available so probably no point complaining. Bit of confusion regarding a bottle of wine (offered then retracted); suite on level 7 offered for last 2 nights but declined (too noisy). Bit odd.

In the room was a generic welcome back note, two additional waters and a packet of cookies.

But a few minutes after I entered my room in came two lounge attendants with the rest of my welcome amenity - a bottle of red wine, a cheese plate and a very nice hand-written note from the Guest Manager acknowledging my loyalty to the hotel and that this was my first time back in 3 years. Wishing me a good rest and welcoming me to the lounge the next day.

Felt better after that!

Good stay. Was warned that Oscar’s was very busy (the norm, other than on my last visit in late Feb 2020 when it was nearly empty), so just ate breakfast in the lounge. Was fine. Evening service options fine but the food offerings have declined a bit to more generic things like pies and dumplings. No evidence of the once lovely seafood salads.

Lounge never felt too busy. Service absolutely perfect right throughout the hotel other than the check-in.

The lounge alcohol offerings have changed. You used to get champagne at breakfast free, and wine and beer all day and up until closing. Now it’s very clear on the welcome letter that wine and beer are available from 14:30 and spirits, champagne from 18:00 to 20:00. Any alcohol outside these hours is chargeable.

On the one hand it’s always disappointing to see a reduction in benefits. I never saw the all day service abused. But it still remains a pretty good offering. And it’s now clear to all, not just those in the know.

Property: Hilton Parmelia Perth
Nights: 1
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Hilton Deluxe
Received: Queen Suite
Rate: Govt ($301.71)
Breakfast: Yes, Lounge or at Samuel's
Lounge Access. Yes (but didn't go)
Early / late check-in / out: Not offered but not needed
Amenity: See pic below.

The rate was dovetailing in with an Amex spend $300 get $60 off - so was the same rate as a standard room not using Govt rate.

Plus better opportunity for them to upgrade me given my 20 years of patronage and favourite room being Queen Suite.

App on day before showed the upgrade had cleared, so I chose my favourite Suite (1003).

Received: Queen Suite
Rate: Govt ($307.05 first night and $318.75 second night)
Breakfast: Yes, continental at Level 2 restaurant
Lounge Access. None
Early / late check-in / out: Not offered but not needed
Amenity: See pic below.

This was my first stay here - wanted to try it and rates at Hilton were $50+ more per night. Plus I had the Amex offer.

Had upgrade confirmed for both nights (booked separately) 48 hours out respectively. Chose corner high floor room (level 17) and glad I did given these views.

Really loved the property and will use it when Hilton prices mid week are out of my budget.

I didn’t mind the short walk uphill to St George’s Tce and my clients. Was nice to have the park across the road (Old Supreme Court within). The walk on the waterfront every morning was fantastic.

The bar (level 18) is spectacular (360 degree views) but so are the prices.

Not an amenity as such, all DT guests get the cookie on arrival. Drink vouchers usually given to status guests as an amenity of sorts.

Hilton Surfers Paradise
2 nights, Diamond
AP Honors breakfast rate
Booked: 2 bedroom city view apartment
Received: 3 bedroom 2 bathroom ocean view*
I did arrange with the hotel to upgrade to a 3 bedroom a few weeks in advance as we had another guests staying. Cost $145 extra per night. There was a tone of 3 bedroom apartments available when I did OCI so I wonder if I waited if I could have asked for a free upgrade.

Early check in of 12pm, late check out of 1pm.
Breakfast for 5 guests on the first morning and 3 guests on second morning were all comped. No barista charges either.
Parked 3 cars for both nights and only charged for one car for one night.
Usual amenity of bottle of wine and card + 3 bottles of water in room upon check in.

Property: Hilton Melbourne Queen Street
Nights: 1
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Superior (cheapest available)
Received: King Junior Suite
Rate: $275 a night
Breakfast: Yes as a Diamond but had to pay $10 more for full brekky and $5 for coffee which i declined.
Lounge Access. Yes it is called the Queen Adelaide room
Early / late check-in / out: Didnt need early check in, asked for 1400 check out they gave 1300.
Amenity: Two bottles of water

Pro's:
- Central location.
- Room was nice and well maintained.
- Chromecast system for the TV's worked well.
- Room climate control was effective. When i walked in it was set to 17oC, quickly adjusted it to 22oC.
- Lounge(Queen Adelaide room) was nice and very few people there for evening drinks.
- Generally staff were very helpful

Con's:
- Room was way too noisy at night. I had a room on level two which even with all the windows and blinds shut was noisy. The tram is 10 metres away. If i ever stay here again i would not stay in the part of then hotel near the road.
- No pool or sauna. Disappointing for a newish 5 star hotel.
- Gym was rubbish, too small with only one resistance machine.
- The restaurant(Luci's) isnt open for lunch. If you want food at lunch time your only option is room service.

Overall a disappointing stay. The noise spoiled the sleep and the lack of facilities was not what i was expecting.

Mmm…I’ve been staying at the West Hotel as it is very close to my client’s Sydney office.
No lounge and I haven’t once received a room upgrade as a Diamond.
I was thinking of trying the Hilton next time to see if any additional perks could be gotten.

Hilton Sydney over West Hotel any day. Limited room types at West Hotel so less upgrades available. Lack of lounge is a deal breaker, especially when prices are similar most of the time.

Property: Hilton Sydney
Stay: In 31 st May Out 2nd June
Status: Diamond
Booked: Superior (Used points and my AMEX Aspire free night cert)
Received: Executive
PS : I requested for a late checkout of 1pm and was granted. Also received two complimentary mineral water bottles (Only for the first day)

I went to Sydney for the Vivid festival ( Highly recommended ! ) Overall, i was happy with the customer service from the Front Desk , Executive Lounge and Glass Brassarie (Breakfast and dinner) I also received turn down service during the evening (Had my bed made up and bathroom cleaned again, and also received two little Lindt chocolates every night) As mentioned by other posters, you will need to pay $10 to upgrade to the buffet spread, and it can get pretty busy from 9am onwards.

Although i really look forward to the Waldorf Astoria opening in late 2026, i am more than happy to continue staying at the Hilton Sydney in the meantime.

I'm staying at a Tru for the first time next week (Milwaukee Downtown) - actually looks decent and was a better location than the higher brands.

But just received an email:
1685834972752.png

Does fun-size not mean the same in the US as it does here? The rooms don't look any smaller than normal in the photos (and in any case, I'd describe Hilton Sydney rooms as fun-sized). Now I'm worried- but I'm only there for a night.

Found some sqft measurements on makemytrip, and they suggest it’s the Aussie fun size, indeed… 217 sqft / 20.2 sqm for the lead-in King bed room type. Maybe closer to Paris fun size! Higher categories not so bad.

Cheers,
Matt.

That's not too bad - pretty close to what I had in Hilton Munich last year - and that was a full Hilton.

Hilton Surfers Paradise
Diamond, 1 night
$170 p/n
Booked Guest Room
Received Executive Room
Bottle of wine and welcome card in room. Full breakfast and barista coffee comped. Didn’t need a late check out/early check in.
I received an email the day before check in from the GM welcoming me and mentioning the comp upgrade. I’d say it’s generic as my name, room type etc were all in a different coloured text but still a nice touch.

Well in the case of Hilton FRA Airport treatment of Diamond Member utter cough - but in thinking it through I would suggest anybody staying here prolly get same disgraceful treatment;
Booked King Guest Room for 1 nt as positioning for SQ flt to MEL next day - admittedly a tad delayed arr due to redicuclous wait for luggage arriving Into FRA - but arriving at hotel fun started:
  1. First entered hotel at ~8pm and noticed temp sweltering - proceeded to check in and advised staff need turn up air con - check in staff pointed to 2 cooling fan towers behind them and said temp is fine here
  2. Checkin processed with no offer of upgrade - my mind was totally on where we were going for dinner as we had not eaten since 7am that morn but YES I should have inquired about upgrade.
  3. Escorted to Room by porter who had all our luggage on trolley - enter room and first thing you notice is room big as a dog box - check bathroom and it is as big as a postage stamp - and the ‘piece de resistance‘ SHOB - FFS - seriously? After hearing swearing porter exited very quickly
  4. Quickly got ready to head to Paulaner in The SQUAIRE for pork knuckle for dinner - on way out past checkin inquired is Hotel 100% occupancy? Response was no about 50% - I then told them disgraceful they not offer Diamond Member an upgrade and doubly disgraceful they would ever put a Diamond Member in such a coughty room when plenty other rooms available - her response ‘But Sir this is the room assigned to you’ - FFS what a cowboy outfit
  5. Return to room after dinner and then notice King Size Bed is Queen Size - definitely not as described - and bed as hard as a rock - and the weirdest small lumpy pillows
  6. Go to have shower before bed and there is 1 towel in bathroom of a room booked for 2 - FFS - back on phone please send up an extra towel
  7. Finally manoeuvre through a shower in the SHOB without breaking our necks and go to clean teeth - FFS the basin is blocked and water will not drain out of it - lean over bath and finish teeth cleaning over bath
  8. Zero amenities in room like disposable toothbrushes or bottles of water - nothing zilch nada
  9. No USB charging port beside bed but it did have 2 x AC power outlet on 1 side of bed - out with carry on luggage again and retrieve 2 adaptors and chargers to charge phones overnight
  10. Down to brekky next morn and all appeared pretty ok - until chef who spoke English came out checking foods on offer - I asked could she fry me 2 eggs - no you must order through service staff - ok I can do that but service staff don’t speak a word English but I still thought I got her to understand 2 eggs over easy - eventually after sending some one to check progress 2 cremated eggs appears at table.
  11. At checkout staff could not even find my email address which has been same on HH Account for >20yrs and which is same email address this and all other bookings are made with. No interaction from staff at all like ‘How was your stay? Did you enjoy our hotel?’ - which I was so desperately hoping would be forthcoming but alas did not occur
OMG - never EVER EVER again would I contemplate this coughpy hotel - I would never have imagined an alleged 5* Hilton could deliver such a coughty experience.

Compared to the Munich Hilton and in the same country where every one seemed to have a good grasp of English
