This was my first stay here - wanted to try it and rates at Hilton were $50+ more per night. Plus I had the Amex offer.
Had upgrade confirmed for both nights (booked separately) 48 hours out respectively. Chose corner high floor room (level 17) and glad I did given these views.
Really loved the property and will use it when Hilton prices mid week are out of my budget.
I didn’t mind the short walk uphill to St George’s Tce and my clients. Was nice to have the park across the road (Old Supreme Court within). The walk on the waterfront every morning was fantastic.
The bar (level 18) is spectacular (360 degree views) but so are the prices.

Mmm…I’ve been staying at the West Hotel as it is very close to my client’s Sydney office.Property: Hilton Sydney
Stay: 28 May
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Guest
Received: Initially King Deluxe (no suite), but found issue with toilet few hours after checking in, so asked to switch room (and pointed out Junior Suite was now available according to the app, so got that)
Rate: $244 a night
+$10 buffet breakfast surcharge for Diamonds, +$5 barista coffee tax applicable
Hilton Sydney over West Hotel any day. Limited room types at West Hotel so less upgrades available. Lack of lounge is a deal breaker, especially when prices are similar most of the time.Mmm…I’ve been staying at the West Hotel as it is very close to my client’s Sydney office.
No lounge and I haven’t once received a room upgrade as a Diamond.
I was thinking of trying the Hilton next time to see if any additional perks could be gotten.
How did you get $244? That's a great price. Thanks.Property: Hilton Sydney

Found some sqft measurements on makemytrip, and they suggest it’s the Aussie fun size, indeed… 217 sqft / 20.2 sqm for the lead-in King bed room type. Maybe closer to Paris fun size! Higher categories not so bad.I'm staying at a Tru for the first time next week (Milwaukee Downtown) - actually looks decent and was a better location than the higher brands.
But just received an email:

Does fun-size not mean the same in the US as it does here? The rooms don't look any smaller than normal in the photos (and in any case, I'd describe Hilton Sydney rooms as fun-sized). Now I'm worried- but I'm only there for a night.

Cheers,

Compared to the Munich Hilton and in the same country where every one seemed to have a good grasp of EnglishDown to brekky next morn and all appeared pretty ok - until chef who spoke English came out checking foods on offer - I asked could she fry me 2 eggs - no you must order through service staff - ok I can do that but service staff don’t speak a word English but I still thought I got her to understand 2 eggs over easy - eventually after sending some one to check progress 2 cremated eggs appears at table.
