How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Status: Gold
Booked: 2 Nights. Twin
Room upgraded to higher floor.
Price: 24k yen a night.
Location: 15 minutes walk from Yokohama station, so we took a taxi over with our suitcases (900yen)

Offered breakfast at check in due to status and upgraded to higher room floor. Solidly spacious for a JP hotel. Breakfast is standard western buffet but extremely busy. They didn't even replace the orange juice or ketchup. The food itself was soso, but just the speed they replaced things were extremely slow especially for things that didn't need cooking.

Otherwise this is one of the cheaper Hilton's in this part of Japan and a solid base if you're visiting the Yokohama area. If you want a bigger hotel and don't mind the 40minute commute, you could even setup base here for Tokyo.

Yes, I stayed there last year and really liked it. Easy to get to HND also.

Stayed in one of the new exec rooms at HSYD last night on L36 where the exec lounge used to be. The decor changed completely, feels like a different hotel. Timber floor much better than the old carpet and generally the room feels more premium. Sadly can’t say that about the new lounge on L1 which is small, noisy and has no windows. At least the food was decent.

The lounge is a joke. I don’t really have a problem with the decor or the offerings but it’s just too small. We were denied entry at 5.30pm as it was full. I asked for vouchers for the lobby bar so we got $25 per room which almost buys two glasses of wine. When we came back at 6pm it was still full so we elected to sit outside. I think they’ll have to do what HSP does and have two sessions of the EL, or set up more tables outside.

Couldn’t get into the EL when I stayed last month either.
Sat outside waiting, at least the wine is self serve now when you eventually get in.
I’m guessing whoever thought up the required size and capacity of the new lounge was well off the mark, either that or the management were aware it’s too small and don’t care.

The new management doesn’t care. 11 x additional new rooms would generate more revenue and that’s the key focus. All about maximising revenue and cutting costs. The new lounge has room for 70 vs 200+ old. With the additional tables outside it’s still less than half the previous capacity. I really feel sorry for the staff who are the ones that have to bear the brunt of unhappy guests.

I arrived at 5pm sharp yesterday and the lounge was almost completely full, was lucky to score the last normal table (there were couple of high chair tables still free). First thing when entered I was told there’s one hour stay limit but it was not enforced. Will be interesting to see what will happen once the business ppl return in Feb as they will be far less tolerant than the school holiday tourists.

Hmm mine has removed the “Drop to Gold” too actually, but seems to good to be true.
I think they just take the message away after the first / initial time you open the app or account page. Unlikely there’s any handouts in 2025… but as a Diamond going on Silver, I’ll take one, if there is!
