How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

This is a result of their massive “enhancements”, like QF. I remembered when they were newly opened, I received the suites at almost every stay, plus they give you two coughtail vouchers every night which you can order any coughtails on their menu on top of snacks and drinks in the room (hope that’s still on offer?). Good old days.
The initial feedback 3-4 years ago from “select” AFF members in the know and connected to the right people who received suite upgrades and all reported back here to praise the property ad nauseum seemed all too convenient for my liking.

But good luck to them. Never turn down a free upgrade!

Hilton Vienna Park...booked cheapest room for 1 guest (cheaper) but 2 of us staying. Upgraded to Park /Cathredal View Junior Suite. Late 3 pm checkout. Choice of breakfast in restaurant (too busy) or Exec lounge. Happy hour 6-8 pm.
Very nice property since renovation completed in 2020 :)

PS: Priority checkin for Gold / Diamond allowed us to jump a long checkin Q ;)

Thanks for the review. I stayed there a couple of times pre-Reno and thought it was a solid 4 star with attractive pricing considering the alternatives along the ring road and decent location.

I’ve since stayed at the Hilton Plaza (other end of the ring road) and enjoyed that much more. But if the renovation is as good as it looks I’ll give Park another go when I visit Vienna later this year.

And surprising, this morning, we were at Glass and was told we could have the hot food, egg station etc, but barista coffee is $5. So we got full breakfast!

In better news though, in Hilton Sydney tonight, originally booked deluxe room and was upgraded to executive which is not really an upgrade since diamonds get executive lounge and breakfast anyway. Saw the rates dropped the day before and booked a deluxe corner instead. Jumped on chat and asked if I could get junior suite and was immediately granted the request. Nice room!

Hilton Melbourne
Booked: TWIN SUPERIOR ROOM
Received: TWIN SUPERIOR ROOM
The room had views of an internal metal vent, which wasn’t of any aesthetic value, but the internal outlook ended up being exceptionally quiet for an inner city location.
The executive lounge had good hot snacks and basic drinks. The interior design of the lounge was a bit wild, with bold murals and patterned tile flooring. It was a nice change from the conservative tones of most chain hotels. The staff were helpful and friendly. Happy hour is 5-7, which caught me because the last few Hiltons have been 6-8. Breakfast was just okay with the complimentary diamond breakfast limited to continental, which would have been fine if not for the stale pastries. Real coffee cost extra. My last few stays have been in Europe and Asia, so it was a bit of a disappointment to be back in the country of real coffee fees.

Property: Hilton London Paddington
Room booked: double deluxe (second bottom)
Status: Diamond (see below)
Rate: fully refundablwe
When: March 2025
Received: GWR Tower Room

I've stay here twice before and while there is a more modern Hilton Metropole around the corner, the proximity to my office here wins. I was going to drop from diamond to gold on 1st April. Luckily I was checking in on 31st March so was given the diamond treatment. The app showed no upgrade. I tried checking in early at 10:30am and while my room and some other options were ready I could get the GWR Tower room if I was prepared to take the standard 4pm check-in. I was fine with that as heading to the office regardless. Was given immediate lounge access though.

Tower rooms are a bit more modern and have a proper shower rather than a shub. My main motivation for the upgrade really. I never bothered going to the lounge. Breakfast is far superior in the main restaurant.

All in all a good stay. Rooms are very quiet and for London a decent size. Staff were friendly. Will stay again next time.

Property: Conrad Tokyo
Room booked: King Room City
Status: Diamond
Rate: 2 x FNCs + 1 x Standard Room reward
When: Late March 2025
Received: King Room Bay View (then upgraded to King Bay View Suite for ~$130 pn)

Stayed 28-31 March when rates were a ridiculous $2k per night. Asked about further upgrade on check in and was advised it was a nearly full house for the 3 nights, but if I wanted to shift rooms on the 2nd day, I could upgrade to an Exec Corner Bay View Suite for $550pn. Respectfully declined and took my King Bay View room.

Room was exactly the same as when staying a few years ago.

On the second morning I decided to ask about upgrades again at the EL. just in case the situation had changed, and was told I could upgrade to an King Bay View Suite for 12650 yen per night if I didn't mind moving rooms between 3-5pm that day.

I had a few 50 USD (8k JPY at the time) credits to burn on Hilton Surpass cards so I took them up on this. They were happy to process each night on a separate card.

New room was a worthwhile upgrade for the price - having a separate living room is a huge benefit when travelling with a kid that sleeps around 8pm. It also gave us a nice space to meet with friends instead of needing to go out to a cafe/restaurant.

Breakfast at the EL was quite busy, and the selection fairly limited, so we had breakfast at Cerise every day. The selection here was excellent - truly something for everyone.

All service interactions were very polished considering how busy the property was and it definitely felt more to Conrad standard than my last visit in Oct 2022 just as travel restrictions were lifting and the hotel was understaffed.

Very happy with the value for FNCs here and will look to book again next Mar/April.

The only negative I have to report is that use of gym/shower for early arrivals (before check-in) isn't permitted. Asked via both email and again via phone - was a bit surprised as Hilton Tokyo had a great onsen facility which they welcome morning arrivals to use.

I have used the gym/shower at Conrad Tokyo on several occasions with early arrival. Most recently in January. I never asked beforehand just at check-in.

Hope this isn’t a new policy.
