We have many threads with the good and bad of QF, but seriously now, how does Qantas treat you - Silver, Gold, Platinum, Chairmans Lounge - please reply.

I've always had a pleasant experience with QF, i have noticed a huge difference in treatment/greetings & service since being WP1, which is excellent. I have never had a bad experience with QF, wouldnt fly anyone else.

Interesting timing. One thing I've been thinking of in the last day is how I 'feel' or perceive a greater increase of treatment by the system (not staff) since getting close to 3000SC so far this year. This 'feeling' is inline with the idea that they do divide loyalty beyond the simple statuses.

Case in point which I was getting to, flight tomorrow has been J0 W0 for a while, Y wide open. Yet an upgrade has come through and magically I'm in an exit row upstairs (744). Most staff are generally oblivious to your status IME, unless you're wearing your membership card on a lanyard or something.

I am no longer 100% self funded, since I've acquired 10SC off somebody else's coin this year. So no doubt flying supposed non-peak times, I have not found the First lounges overcrowded whatsoever. In the last year have flown QF less but found the experience improving. Beside one F flight that was nothing special, all good. Being escorted from the plane through immigration and the rest also quite nice. So I'm happy to keep flying them in and out of Australia.

BTW munitalP isn't there an ignore option for any 'issue' you may be experiencing? Either my apathy levels shield me or it isn't having the same effect on me.

I find treatment varies depending on crew. Jetconnect, A380 crews = good/well. Other QFi = indifferent. QFd = depends on how full the flight is, treatment being inversely proportional to load.

Scum platinum. Considering shooting for 2400SC plat next year.

Well since reaching WP, I've only completed ~15-20 flights so far, but here are my observations:

Domestic: WP greetings on BNE-MEL and MEL-BNE (B737), always offering a newspaper, and always addressing me by name. No greetings on flights to and from SYD (the crew obviously have better things to do on a short flight). I haven't flown any other domestic routes as WP, though when flying as SG I found there to be no difference from any other passenger. In terms of seat selection, I usually see row 4 at T-80, however I see 4ABC blocked quite frequently, and mostly see 4D & 4F available. I bothered to call once about it, and the CSA was able to assign me 4C (when no row 4 availability was showing), but another agent mentioned that they were unable to as "these seats are usually reserved for Chairmans Lounge members". I suppose it depends on who you get, and the expected CL loadings on the flight! Also, when scanning my BP at the boarding gate with my partner behind me, the FA said "Welcome back Mr ChrisCh, enjoy the flight", when my partner then simply heard "thank-you ma'am" (even though the FA could see we were travelling together). Disclaimer: my partner is a QF NB, so perhaps does not qualify for a personalised boarding greeting! (tongue in cheek :p)

International: I've only had one return int'l booking as WP so far, but worthy of note:
SYD-HKG: Very casual WP greeting by one of the crew holding a manifest (not a CSS or CSM), offering a drink before the meal service (in Y).
HKG-PEK: On arrival from our delayed QF flight (only by 10 mins or so), we were greeted at the aerobridge and escorted through HKG airport (~20min walk overall), through the crew channel at transit security, and to the boarding gate for the onwards KA flight. My partner was very impressed with that one! Not sure if this is standard for connecting pax or just a WP thing - I wasn't paying much attention :)
HKG-SYD: Phone call, voicemail, and text message advising me that the flight would depart 40 mins late. Very handy to know, though I had already pre-booked our airport transfer from the hotel... it did give us more time in the F lounge, so I'm not complaining! A/C swap from a 332 to a 333, and we had pre-selected 45A&B. When I realised the swap, I asked the person that called about the delay to move one of us from 45A to 45J, as we had both paid for extra legroom, but 45A would not receive what had been paid for due to the exit slide in the way. They said they would change it, but either forgot or couldn't be bothered. When we arrived at the airport, I asked the check-in supervisor on the J desk to do the seating change, and requested a block on 45A and 45K due to the light load (and as we'd paid the extra to sit together *and* have extra legroom - I would have chosen the earlier 747 flight instead if the 333 had originally been scheduled). After a minute on the phone, the seats had been changed and the blocks added (and they stuck :D). On board, had the greeting from the CSS with a J amenity kit and express arrival cards. When I only requested dessert instead of the meal service (the dumplings in the F lounge were simply too good to ignore...), they came back 5 minutes later with two different (small :p) desserts :D One of the crew also brought back 2x J headphones, and said "for you, and your girlfriend over there when she wakes up"... not sure how they knew she was my GF, but I suppose they can see we're on the same booking etc etc. Later in the flight when I ventured back to the galley for breakfast (I'd slept through the service), the CSS again greeted me by name without looking at a manifest - very impressed! Finally, on landing, there was a sign at the gate with our names on it, and we had automatically been rebooked onto a later SYD-BNE flight. We would have still been able to make the original flight (with no lounge time), but as I was hoping to have lunch in the J lounge between flights, I was happy they had moved us automatically! :D

Now to start planning another int'l trip... I'm thinking I'll need to try the LAN J special SYD-AKL-SYD! :)

No real complaints on how I am treated but then my expectations are not as high as others.

I did get an op-up to premium economy recently and had greetings from 3 different CSMs on that flight.

I can't complain about the treatment of late.. In fact i think it has gone right up in the last few months.. A couple of things I've noticed on my regular MEL-SYD commute:

CSM coming up before take off for an introduction, including one flight when he handed out water bottles to other WP's.
Offered a paper
Even offered food after i fell asleep and missed the service.

I got special treatment for the second time as WP after many dozens of flights. Sitting in Y, an FA with a list and a bunch of papers came around, found me, addressed me by name and offered me a paper and drinks and asked if there was anything I wanted.

Good to see that you can be less than P1 and still get a special visit :)

As a gold...nothing from QF, at least CX provide free exit row seats !

As a WP....much more attentive, greeting in flight, pre dinner drink etc

IMHO, I have noticed no difference between levels on a consistent basis.

I feel it is the way some FA's and other airline staff respect your position/Tier.

I have had some awesome attention then on the next flight nothing different to a SG or NB

I was happy as SG for years - got most of my points upgrades requests and usually could get 5C or 6C at T-80.

As WP my expectations are higher so my satisfaction level is probably the same, but I enjoy being called by my name on the flights and being asked if there's anything else I would like. Also I am at 100% with points upgrades (hope I don't jinx myself now).

I only found the real benefits when the P1 program was introduced, prior to that the service as a WP whilst good was nothing out of the ordinary, but since P1 the "operational upgrade" hit rate has gone through the roof, never any problems changing flights and seat selection is a breeze and almost seems to be automatic even when i dont get time to do seat selection.

Never been greeted in-seat. Never really been treated any differently to any other passenger once on board. Maybe because I don't look/dress like a suit. Mostly I just do the MEL-SYD run, so I don't expect much really - there's not much time for the FA's to do much. I'm in it for the lounges and the seat selection anyway. As a WP I don't expect much though; there are plenty of us.

IMO the benefits of status occurs before you board. After that - my 7 odd years of WP has left the impression that there's bugger all difference......once you're sitting in the tin can.

I try to have low expectations so I'm not disappointed. Still, seat selection is good, PB works most of the time and the 'welcome back' is nice.

Do Qantas treat all OW emeralds as they do treat WPs when traveling on international flights? It is more beneficial for me to be OW emerald with AA in the future and was wondering whether any of the OW airlines recongnise OW emeralds from another OW airlines like they would their own.

IMO, CX hold the gold medal for this....so far AA haven't really been bothered.
