How do you store your wine [+ Fridge/Cabinet recommendations]

Hi all,
Not really a wine storage post but this is probably the closest existing thread I could find.

Does anyone have any recommendations to keep white wine cold apart from an ice bucket? This is for picnics but also to save me having to walk up the stairs constantly to the fridge for a top up? :)

A cooler stick like this is one option: AVANTI Wine Chill Stick | Harris Scarfe

or a freezer sleeve along these lines: Bottle Cool Deluxe Wine and Champagne Chiller Sleeve: Amazon.com.au: Home

Looking for some advice on a wine fridge. I'm in the market for an upgrade as my two smaller Vintecs are full and I'm really looking to consolidate to a larger unit.

Does anyone have any experience with ''ILVE" units? Looks like it's a space they are getting out of and a lot of their larger units are heavily discounted (sub $2k for a 154 bottle dual zone fridge).

Or should I just bite the bullet and stick with Vintec?

Cheers

No experience with ILVE, having had Vintec and Liebherr, my vote would be for Liebherr

Amazon are selling a Vacu Vin wine cooler sleeve for $17.88 which I've used for years - House have one that uses Velcro for $8.92 after 15% off until tomorrow

For reference I managed to pick up a Delonghi 155 (?) bottle dual dual zone one from Harvey Norman some years ago during a sale. Seems to work ok. (Cabinet is made for Bordeaux sized bottles so one has to remove quite a few shelves for Australian and NZ larger sized bottles.)

That's always an annoyance. Fridge at the parents place has a huge problem as my father loves Pinot Noir and those bottles are far too wide to fit nicely and have the shelves slide easily.

As I'm building, I'm in the market for next year and feel that what I'd like is two shorter side by side fridges, one that can store mixers and soda essentially, while the other is a dedicated white/champagne area. I'm currently looking at this rack for all my main needs: Modulosteel Metal Wine Racking System

I am using this one, bought from QVB for under $5. good to me. When you choose the cooler clothes, it is better to cover the whole bottle, not just the body.unnamed (2).jpg

Hello
I hope you don't mind a question about wine fridges. I am looking for a larger fridge, either a 170 Vintec or 195 Liebherr. Does anyone have any good experience to share? Also, any hints re good offers?
Cheers

As per 5-10 or so posts prior to this one my vote is for Liebherr. This is based on storage - have no experience with cabinets for display

I have had 2 off these for the last few years with no problems. States 144 bottle capacity but more like 80 bottles of various shapes,

I have a large vintec dual-zone fridge. It's been in service for about three years, and has been reliable in that time (though it doesn't have any temp memory so if the power goes out it goes back to default minimum temps until you notice).

I got mine as part of a Penfolds promo about 5 years ago. If I were shopping for one now, I would definitely seriously consider other options too. My main grumble is that most Aussie wine bottles (750ml bordeaux and burgundy bottles) are too tall to nest two rows of bottles in each shelf as Vintec recommend. So other than the odd times I end up with more petite 750ml bottles, the capacity of the shelving is effectively half and it's VERY annoying.

My other grumble is that I am almost exclusively a red drinker, and the dual zone is designed for whites up top and reds down below, with temp settings to suit (6-12deg on top, 12-18deg on bottom). So I can't keep my bottles in the top section any warmer than 12deg. That and the dualzone mechanism separating the top and bottom sections takes up valuable storage space. But that's not the machine's fault, it was a consequence of the promo offering not exactly suiting my tastes.

Another vote for Liebherr. If I were in the market for a fridge I wouldn't consider anything else and happily pay the premium.

I am due for another wine fridge soon so was looking around recently. I had a look at Appliances Online during their recent sale and I reckon all the fridges seem to have gone up in price by at least 30% since the last one I purchased about 3 or 4 years ago. I got a 195 Liebherr for just under $2k and the same model is now just shy of $3k.

Would have thought they should be getting cheaper or worse case staying about the same price. Is the demand for these things just getting so high that they are bumping the prices?

I recently purchased this (awaiting delivery) after issues with a polar wine fridge.
By all reports/reviews, it seems to work extremely well, especially at its price point. I only plan to store red wine so dual zone is not necessary for me, however I've been assured by Hisense that both zones can be set to the same temperature.

Costs sound prohibitive, especially when you factor in how much energy these fridges consume. Perhaps cheaper to look at managed storage instead?

I have one 72 bottle fridge at home for immediate consumables and about 15 cases stored offisite of the cellarworthy stuff.
