How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

I still think they should put the drinking water taps in the bar area of the room near the fridge not in a bathroom. It is weird, i know cheaper due to plumbing but I think even in the hallway near the ice machine is better than a bathroom.

I think that's a fair comment for a premium or luxury brand, but this is a Mercure we're talking about..

You'll be happy to know the filtered hot/cold taps at the Fairmont are built into the drinks/minibar cabinet:

The filter taps are with the sink, next door at the Swissotel, and water is room temp at best (which sucks for me, as I like my water nice and cold). The pressure is also too low so it takes an eternity to fill a glass or bottle

Property: Sebel Campbell, Canberra
Status: Accor Gold
Room booked: Two Bedroom Apartment
Room upgraded/type: Received above
Rate: Corporate Rate of A$305 per night
Lounge: No Lounge
Early check in/late out: No/No - (Check Out is an early 10 am)
Welcome drink: Didn't ask / need
Welcome amenity: Bottle of de Bortoli Legacy Shiraz Cabernet

Wanted a 2 bedroom, as I was with ageing parents. Second room had no external window, but internal window into kitchen area.

Total area over 60 sq Metres. The Lounge area was very large.

No restaurant on-site, but good local coffee places and The Pedlar Eat & Drink is a great new local pub. Trivia on a Monday was very busy.

Would stay again.

I think you'll find that plastic is a much better insulator than aluminium for keeping a drink cold.

When I take a glass bottle or aluminum can out of the fridge it always feels much colder than anything in plastic. The fridge is ultimately what keeps the water cool.

That's because aluminium conducts heat much better than plastic. Your body is actually sensing the change in temperature telling you something is hot or cold. So the fact aluminium conducts heat better is your body heat transferring to the can more quickly, making it "seem" cooler. Same deal with glass.

Same explanation why walking on tiles feels colder than carpet in the morning in winter. They're both the same temperature though.

7 nights at Accor properties over the last week and bit in what was a pretty hectic schedule.

Property: Pullman Adelaide
Status: Accor Plus Diamond
Room booked: Superior Room
Room upgraded/type: Junior Suite
Rate: Red Hot Rooms $231 p/n - 2 nights
Lounge: Yes - Hindmarsh Lounge
Early check in/late out: Yes/Yes - 12pm Check in, 1pm Check out
Welcome drink: 2x drinks vouchers
Welcome amenity: Macaroons, chocolates, 2 mini bottles of wine.

Had a function in the East end so Pullman is one of our go to hotels. Staff great as always and greeted by Christophe at Valet parking who instantly recognises us and says he will park the car and get us sorted. Early check in no problem and as Diamonds offered automatic 1pm check out which we accepted. Only booked a cheap Superior room with RHR rates but was upgraded to a Junior suite which is a comfortable room with a decent balcony and views. Sadly we were informed that due to staff shortages that breakfasts were no longer served in the club lounge and although a small selection of drinks is available in the lounge all day that it is now only manned from 5-7pm. Good news is that Bowman still runs the lounge and on entry he greeted as and asked if we would like our usual to which we obliged. Had dinner at SALT on the second night and 50% Accor plus added no issue and used our drinks vouchers at the bar. Very good meal IMO. Breakfast was the only downside to our stay. With the EL not doing breakfast we had to run the gauntlet and the restaurant was absolutely packed and we were informed that as we didn’t have a booking it would be a 30 minute. I politely informed the staff member that as a Diamond I didn’t think this was acceptable but nonetheless we would go and grab a coffee and return only for the manager to come over and mention to the staff member that as Diamonds she would get us a table immediately and “move a couple of patrons on”. We were seated a few minutes later and the breakfast was pretty ordinary I must say, coffee was ok though.
All up another pretty good stay.

Another midweek stay due to Mrs Jase’s work and 2nd leg of my Accor week. Got the usual upgrade to Prestige suite and it’s a great room. Unfortunately due to my work hours I didn’t get to visit the Lounge or have breakfast on either day. Nice comfortable stay again and well looked after by the staff as always

Welcome amenity: Fruit platter and chocolates

Leg 3 of my Accor stays found us in Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final and as I booked it quite late I paid accordingly. No upgrade offered and as it was a full house I didn’t expect one. Room was very comfortable and no complaints with the staff who were absolutely ran off their feet. EL was busy as was breakfast on the Saturday but that was to be expected. Had an early flight Sunday morning to get up to Sydney for the NRL Grand Final so didn’t have breakfast on Sunday. Good stay all up

Final leg for the week and once again did the AFL/NRL Grand Final double so up to Sydney we went. Wanted to stay out near Accor stadium but obviously rooms were in short demand. Managed to grab a room at the Novotel which is a pretty familiar property as we stay there often when I attend Parramatta games. Rooms are comfortable enough and hotel is in a pretty good location. No upgrade as hotel was full but our room was ready at 11am which was much appreciated. Breakfast is your normal spread and is ok without being great. The hotel serves its purpose for us and no doubt we will get there again a couple of times next season

That's quite a bit to spend on a hotel in Parramatta. This coming from someone who boasts $100/night stays at the ibis Darling Harbour, so perhaps not the clientele Accor is aiming for. 😂
Nice to see them offering 1 PM "late" check-out. Surprised how stingy hotels here in Australia are when it comes to check-out. 10 AM? Seriously?!

Presumably you would be covered by the Accor room guarantee supposing of course you booked the room 2 nights ahead of time. I'd also be curious if the Pullman @ Olympic Park or the ibis @ Olympic Park were available. Presumably the Pullman would have been a notch better than the Novotel plus you'd be closer to Olympic Stadium.

As an aside, I'd be curious what benefits as an Accor Diamond you got at the Accor Stadium (proper name: Sydney Olympic Stadium)?

Pullman was over $1300 per night. Have stayed there before and not worth it. Parramatta is ideal for me as I caught up with a heap of mates from the club and we had a lunch and a session before heading to the game

Nice and modern hotel in the north west, next to a busy pub.
Rooms are decent and modern, breakfast is in the adjacent cafe and you can order from the menu.
Drink voucher can be used in the pub as well.

Stayed just one night, arrived late and left after breakfast, but will definitely stay again if I have business in this area.

One of my preferred hotels in Western Sydney

Anyone stayed at a 25h hotel? They appear to be well priced for what they offer, and appear to earn a full haul of status points.

Property: Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room booked: Superior King w/SNU applied for Junior Suite
Room upgraded/type: Prestige Suite
Rate: Paid $647 + SNU
Lounge: Yes - Club Millésime
Early check in/late out: No/No - not requested or needed
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 - redeemed off the 'Elite' options at Atelier with dinner
Welcome amenity: Bottle of Legacy Shiraz, Small boxed chocolate cake slice, 2 x Capi Sparkling Waters

A night out and staycation for a special occasion. Checked in on L35 at the Club. I asked about upgrade and was offered the Prestige Suite, if we wanted it, but they suggested we might be happier in the Junior, as it had a better view from the bedroom and bathroom. We checked it out, but it was quite small, aside from the bathroom, and so we did go for the Prestige Suite. Even the Prestige Suite isn't huge, compared to many other properties, but spacious enough for us two, and though we were on the southern end of the floor (corner towards the new W), it was still a nice enough outlook, particularly by night.

We had canapes and breakfast in the lounge, and on both occasions were happy with the service and setting. Nothing really to report there.

Dinner in Atelier was good, but not great... and I was glad that we had A+ 50% discount to take the sting off the food charges, with some of the dishes hardly worth their discounted price. It was also nice to be able to 'stack' an ALL Elite benefit with an A+ discounted meal, and get a couple of glasses of Veuve Clicquot NV with dinner using our drink vouchers; it was another $66 saved, right there!

The property is still in excellent condition considering it has been running now for over 7 years (though without a lot of action through the pandemic, I guess), and we will likely use it again for occasions like this... however I'm not sure how long we'll have to enjoy it the same, or whether SSDH can retain all its lustre, as the 50-floor Mirvac Harbourside development starts to go up beside it. Sitting in the lounge on L35 and looking at the footprint of where that monster will come up, it's probably going to take out much of the view to the north (looking towards Crown and the bridge), and replace those with residential and office tower windows, another 15 floors higher than the SSDH. At least we might start to see the Sofitel rates come down after that! :)

Cheers,
Matt.

Room upgraded/type: Executive Room, 1 King Size Bed
Rate: Accor Plus Advanced Saver, Bed and Breakfast - $179.10
Lounge: N/A
Early check in/late out: Early check-in not needed, 1 PM late checkout granted
Welcome drink: Yes x 2 not redeemed since lounge hopping today
Welcome amenity: 2 bottles of water and box of cakes

Flying out today to Pittsburgh (by way of Dallas) and wanted to sleep in so I could coordinate my clock better with US time. Decided to stay at the nearby Novotel, as it is walking distance to the international terminal, and I haven't stayed there since last year when I was a lowly Gold. Arrived at the hotel around 8 PM and was promptly checked-in and informed I was upgraded to an Executive room on the top floor. I requested a late check-out of 1 PM so I can take a leisurely stroll to the airport for today's 4:40 PM flight to Dallas. After checking with her supervisor this was granted.

Somewhat basic but functional room, so in that regard I cannot complain. A little disappointed by the restroom and the shub. It would've been better to have a shower stall or as the Pullman Sydney Airport has it, a shower and a separate bathtub.

Breakfast was included in the rate (but also get this as being Accor+Platinum). It was a buffet spread consisting of the usual suspects: eggs, fruits, sausage, etc. There was a Nespresso machine for making coffee and I suspect one could order a flat white at the bar if they had dietary concerns (i.e. wanting oat milk), although no comment on whether a latte levy would be owed.

Would I stay here again? Maybe but not at this rate - too high, especially when compared to Pullman which I find is a nicer hotel. Yes it would mean a transfer over to the international terminal but the rooms are nicer and there is a lounge to boot (allegedly).

and there is a lounge to boot (allegedly).
There is a lounge but currently not operating as such. There is a small bar fridge with a few soft drinks in it and you can go in there and watch TV and chill out but the afternoon drinks and snacks are held down in the main restaurant which is a pity as space is very limited

Property : The Olsen Art Series Hotel South Yarra, Victoria
 Status : Accor Gold
Room booked : Studio Suite with balcony
Room upgrade : Not available due to full occupancy with a conference.
Room rate : Flexible bed & breakfast $255 p.n
Early check in: I did formalities early and husband arrived at 2 pm when room was ready.
Late checkout : 12 midday which was much appreciated
Welcome drink voucher : Did not get vouchers (see below)
Welcome amenity : Bottle of Legacy white, water x 2 and personalised card
Parking : $25
Breakfast : In onsite restaurant Spoonbill. No buffet, one main each, 2 sides and 2 drinks - expensive if not included in Room rate, and as noted by other reviews, better value for money can be found elsewhere in South Yarra.

Room only rate was only $22 less, so good value for us - and a thank you to Mr Flyfrequently for driving me about all weekend!

I was in town for a weekend of "50 year Reunion" festivities with venues in Richmond and Hawthorn, so chose South Yarra as was close to both ( +1's not invited so husband was chauffeur!)

As booking was in my name, I did the formalities at 11.30 am, asked about drink vouchers and advised would be given when picking up the key.
Husband forgot to ask 🤔

Upon check out, brought this to Reception's attention, said we could have a coffee now or would be given extra vouchers next time we stay.
As this would not work for us, a more senior person took the initiative and offered to waive our $25 car parking fee - which I hapily accepted.

Would stay there again if the occasion arose. 20231020_131407.jpg
Poor form on my part but no other photos, apart from obligatory car park posted in View from my Office thread.

In my defence, it was a big weekend!
