An excellent stay in Hanoi. The hotel is located further away from the Old Quarter, which we preferred as it was quieter and it was a short (depending on traffic) Grab into the city anyway.

The hotel is very new, and the rooms are excellent. Note that the bathroom is surrounded by translucent glass so you can see silhouettes of people inside.

We got a double upgrade, but I can’t figure out what the difference to the base room is. The staff said that the furnishings are nicer, and it’s on a higher floor and slightly bigger, but it looks the same in pictures to me…

The EL is excellent. Very quiet when we went (EL staff said that they don’t get huge numbers in the lounge, presumably because many people are out during the day). We didn’t have breakfast there, but afternoon tea is a selection of cakes and the like, and there’s a pretty decent buffet for coughtail hour. It probably isn’t enough for a full dinner, though. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the drinks menu, but there’s a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with sparkling wine on free pour.

Breakfast in the main restaurant was great, a good selection with barista coffee available. We were out early every day so it was a mostly in-and-out affair, and we didn’t visit at peak so I’m not sure about the crowding.

The staff were super friendly, if a bit new - there were quite a few trainees and a few things needed to go through a manager.

Overall I highly recommend this hotel, with the caveat that it’s not actually in the Old Quarter or walkable to much.

I think these type of upgrades where the room is physically the same, but a higher floor and some better amenities. Eg, perhaps a robe and slippers. Pod coffee machine instead of instant etc.
