How does "Family Offer" work?

I'm trying to work out how the Family holidays with ALL : Enjoy 50% off your second room works.

I'm planning a celebration towards the end of this year on the Gold Coast. Looking to book the Novotel Surfers Paradise Penthouse (of which there are 2). Maximum occupancy is 8 per unit (plus 2 kids) - there are 4 bedrooms over 3 levels. When I start this process I see a non-refundable rate, a flexible rate and a family rate.

From what I've read of the family offer, the key point is thus: Offer includes a 50% discount on the price of your children's room. The 50% discount for the second room is calculated based on the average nightly price booked with the flexible rate, subject to availability. The invoice will show a 25% discount on each room.

However, the price I am seeing goes well above what the average nightly price is of just over $1000 - and in fact looks to double that number instead of halving it.



In this instance, it looks like I'd be better off selecting the flexible rate for both rooms instead of one or both under the family offer. Can someone explain how I am actually meant to take advantage of this offer? Much appreciated if you can save me some money.

Looks strange. I have booked plenty of Family Offers in Accor European hotels and it worked a treat. Looks like it didn't work as intended. I would suggest you give them a call to see if they can give you a better pricing.

It's offering you four rooms for $7.4k.I f you booked the four rooms individually, the total would be $10k.

No, there are 2 rooms, they're both penthouse suites that have 4 bedrooms in them for a total 8 people max occupancy. Here is the same booking, but if I chose the flexible rate instead of the family offer (50% discount off the second room). I guess, the price I'm expecting to see is around about $3942.

Agree that's 4 rooms total on the family offer as you have selected it. $3,733 is the price for 2 rooms.

In the first screenshot in your OP, you need to select the third option with the red banner.

I’ve marked up your screenshot. Note the fine print says “for two rooms”:

I assumed I needed to select the number of adults and/or children that’ll be there? I have tried changing it to a booking if 2 adults and 1 child per room, and received the same result. It asks me to select the rate for the first ‘room’ and then for the second.

Is anyone able to replicate this behaviour or replicate and get different results?

I was struggling to get it to price for hotels in Paris this week. No matter what combinations of adults and children in 2 rooms, the price are a lot higher than selecting 2 rooms. Second room has a preselect of 1 adult in the room default by the system.

Not sure how you get all the other people added though....

That’s very strange.

Maybe you should email them with the screenshots and ask them to honour the rate?

This. Just select one room in the search criteria with children in the quantity.

Then it will offer the Family rate with two rooms being offered.

The most I could put was 8 guests (I put 6 adults and 2 children).

If you follow the instructions on the offer landing page it says to only select ONE room. You do not put in the second room that you want the 50% off


So you put 2 adults, 2 kids (or whatever in) with one child being under 12 and then the offer will show you the price of the 2 rooms combined.

Also the 50% off isn't a true 50% off as it's off a non discounted rate I believe but it's still good value.
