Hi all, I recall talk of all-day bag drops with QF a while ago but I haven't heard anything since.
I'm flying SYD-NRT next Thursday leaving at around 2230 although ideally I'd like to drop my bag (3-4pm), leave the airport and come back closer to departure.
I'm NB and flying PE. Is this an option? I plan to check-in online.

And my second question, how busy is immigration on a Thursday night? I've flown out of SYD a few times on a Saturday morning and have spend hours in customs because it was full of people and moving at snail-pace. My last flight (QF63) was delayed by an hour due to quite a lot of passengers being stuck in immigration.

Many thanks!

Sydney has all-day check in for international QF flights, so as early as you like.

In response to the second question, I will allocate about 60 minutes for immigration & security.

Great thanks for the replies.
I'm curious to know, do any other airlines offer the all-day bag-drop?

Don't mention that you are heading back into the city, as a member on here had issues with that just previously.

But not so early as to be in the past, you are restricted by the laws of space and time to dropping of your bag in the future and, at the time, the present moment. Suprisingly this applies also to WP1 and CL, not so far above that they are above the laws of physics.

How early does QF checkin open in the mornings?
We have a 9.50am flight to the US next year, was hoping to get the checkin all done ( we are flying business) and get some breakfast in the lounge.
We live a about an hour and a half from Sydney airport. So are mindful of the morning peak hour.

EK has a 7.15am or do dep from SYD to AKL and opens 3 hrs before.
LA has a 9.30am dep.
Have been there at 6am personally one time, int terminal.

Thank you for the info and link.
Sounds good for an early checkin.

Sorry, just to double-check. QF has all-same-day check-in and not just a bag drop I've rather stupidly ticked the wrong box and declared dangerous goods so now I have to check-in at the airport. I'm keen to confirm that I can check-in AND drop the bags at around 4PM for a 10:20PM flight? I don't want to turn up at 4PM and be told to return 3hrs before the flight as that'll destroy my dinner plans.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply - I'll find out for sure in a few hours. :)

I'm pretty sure lots of people use this feature for the day trip to the F Lounge (so, check-in and bag-drop).
