How long do BA, Finnair and Other oneworld flights take to credit to Qantas?

AY booked with QF flight number posted at 48hrs

AY flight number hasn’t posted at all after 72hrs.

BA flight numbers booked as QFF classic reward flights havent shown on activity statement at all after over a week.

My last CR on BA (last year) took a couple of weeks to land.

Meanwhile, there’s been some recent BA back office IT tweaks to “enhance” the way CRs on BA post to QFF.

Additional AY data points from flights over the last month or so:
Flights on Tuesday posted the following Wednesday (8 days)
Flight on Thursday posted on Tuesday (5 days)
Flight on Friday posted on Wednesday (5 days)

All flights were booked directly with AY and had AY flight numbers (not sure if this affects anything). Didn't need to follow up with QF for any of them.

Just wondering if anyone has any recent data points on this front? Took an AA flight last Wednesday across the Atlantic and yet to be awarded any points or status credits despite it showing on the ticket.

I know Emirates is about 2 days so I would have thought AA would be the same.

Late reply - but I took two AA flights recently (same day, connecting flights).
Flights were booked via AMEX Travel AU and QFF number added at time of booking.
Mobile boarding passes used and reflected oneworld Emerald status.
Both flights credited in 24 to 48 hrs to QFF.

Sorry just saw this one. They did not post so I have followed up with Qantas and just got this interesting reply.

"The claim you made for missing Qantas Points submitted on XX-Dec-2024 has been processed but was UNSUCCESSFUL - AIRFARE AND BOOKING CLASS NOT ELIGIBLE TO EARN."

I was always under the impression that all flights taken with an AA flight code were eligible for status credits and points given both carriers are part of the oneworld alliance and the joint venture. The flights were all booked via the US version of the American Airlines website and into economy (the base fare due to Sapphire perks) so really unsure about this.

As long as the fare/booking class is listed in the earning table (which of course excludes the reward fare classes like X for example): https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...s/earn-category-tables.html#american-airlines

The trip confirmation and receipt email from AA when you booked should have the booking class.

Whilst writing this, I did another check and have found that AA Basic Economy fares that book into B are not included in the Qantas earn table, so these would earn zero QFF points and SCs unfortunately.

Yes I found that out the hard way

Thanks that great intel and very strange not all classes are covered. Turns out I was booked into B. Missed out on about 40 status credits as a result.

Just as a heads up for data referencing:
  • AA flights usually post as soon as I land, give or take one to two hours.
  • AS flights usually take three to five business days to post.
All AA flights booked in B/Basic Economy are not eligible for status credits or points. You can see this from a table here I made a while back:

AS flights booked in Saver should still accumulate status credits and points.

Must be getting much better. Flew Cathay Melbourne to New York on Sunday and points were in my account by Tuesday.
Cathay always credits Tuesday evening to QFF. Not sure about Tuesday flights, but definitely for everything from Wednesday to the day before. I've found it very reliable, don't think I've ever had to put in a claim, for dozens of flights in the last few years at least.

I find Finnair flights will often randomly not credit, and chasing it up can require a boarding pass after multiple claims of it being a non-earning booking class.

I’ll see how that tracks - I’ve had 4 already and 4 more CX flights coming this year. So far so good and generally for years they’ve been fine but as mentioned upthread, I did have some sectors “no show” two years ago, and they were needed to retain QF WP! Fortunately sorted quickly.

Yup, on my end:

  • American Airlines: same day
  • Alaska Airlines: 3-7 business days
  • Cathay Pacific: every Tuesday

CX batches up everything for a week and sends them off to QF on Tuesday afternoon/evening.
Departures on Tues morning before the time the batch is run thus post that day, departures in the afternoon after they run the batch will take a week.
