How long for Velocity Points to be credited?

I recently signed up for Velocity knowing I'd get a reasonable number of points for some domestic travel and a LAX-SYD flight with VA.

Nearly one month later my activity statement shows zilch. I contacted Velocity via their website about this last week and have not heard a peep from them. Their 'Claim Missing Points' function isn't working (and hasn't been for the past week).

Any thoughts on what steps to take next?

My velocity points post anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks... I usually allow 4 weeks before I start chasing them up, I have complained before about the variance in time and non-postings and was told that they have to do them manually and there is a process and sometimes they have to wait for data etc etc

A month is when I'd be *gulp* biting the bullet and risking the call centre ;)

Or you could PM crazydave to follow it up for you...!

Thanks pauly. I did indeed call them and was on hold for some time while they tapped away keying in the details. Told it could take another 6 weeks -pretty bloody ordinary (compared to Qantas who IME credit points within 1-2 weeks of flying without you needing to do anything). Hoping it doesn't require further follow up and they over deliver and get them to me sooner.

Thanks again.

I know that my Emirates flights took about 5 weeks to be credited - I too thought that this was a rather long time for these to be credited, but the website says that it can take a couple of months before they appear: so I was lucky...

my emirates trip last nov took about 3 weeks after each flight to get credited to my account. if only they gave me a better rate for the super cheap fares

How long? How about 6 months? 3 phone calls? No results?
Velocity seem to be useless when processing claims frm other airlines. Malaysia Airlines in particular. Even if you quote the member number when booking, points dont automatically get credited. and then when u call the contact centre, they say there's nothing they can do.

also at the airport noone from malaysia airlines knows about velocity.

poor, poor form.

I have flown Malaysian Airlines several times, and will always claim the velocity points. My points have always been credited to my account although it will take about a month. Basically you need to retain your boarding pass, call up velocity to claim the points and they give you an address to send the boarding pass to. A month or so later and they will credit the points to your account.

Its not the most convient system in the world, but atleast you will get points from it.

I am on to my 6th phone call about this. Virgin keep saying "one more week"...when I call them again after "one more week" they say they'll "look in to it" Today they say that I have to wait another 6 weeks to see if they get credited. Flight was 12 weeks ago :(

A non-event in the scheme of things, but...

Just in case anyone is thinking of flying Virgin America within the US thinking they they are going to get credited points think again. Apparently there is not relationship between the airlines...or so Virgin in Australia say.

Yeah, Virgin US is completely separate.

I called a few weeks back after it had already been a month since V Australia flight and was given the "allow 6 weeks spiel". Having heard the poster above say it's already 3 months wait is even worse form. That's the slowest of any airline scheme I've come across!

Well, how's this!? I was contacted through this forum by Virgin management on 2 June who advised me they'd have someone look in to my case - progress! :)

Then, I just happened to check my account on that same day (pure optimism on my part) and, bizarrely, points had been credited....this, just a few days after being told I'd really have to wait another 6 weeks!

I thought that'd be the end of it but then I was contacted by telephone by someone from the Guest Relations Centre - he said his name was Bob - responding to my e-mail sent back in mid May. Sounded pretty huffy about my contacting them and said something along the lines of 'excuse me but I think you'll find the points have been credited correctly' . Well, after he had finished I made sure to point out to him that the e-mail he was referring to was sent weeks before the points were credited on 29 May so my initial query was merely when they will be credited not whether they were correctly calculated as I was quite capable of reading the T&Cs on how points were calculated when it came to sale fares thank-you very much

i flew in PE with VA on the 19th May and still no points

on the 19th (20th back in Syd) I flew Alaskan from LA to Cancun. 1 week later the 1:1 points had been credited to my account.

I wish I'd realized Alaskan gave points with QF. Wouldn't have booked with AA to only get non reward flights, + $15 for a bag. Didn't have to pay for the 1st bag with Alaskan.

It looks like that wait is par for the course. It's now one week shy of three months for me.

I checked the website again a couple of weeks' back. It still had not been credited, but when I checked the "Claim missing points" function, it had a section for V Australia, unlike the first time I checked when it said just to contact the customer centre.

So I entered the booking number as requested - and get a message that my booking cannot be found! And to contact the customer service centre again.

Back I try and this time they tell me I should have logged it the first time (which contradicts what I was originally told - but that seems to be a frequent occurrence with V Australia as well!) and she would log my details. Having done that, I hadn't heard anything and checked my balance today... and it still has not been credited.

Perhaps this is a way of saving cash in these straitened times? Hope that people give up, or have better things to do than keep chasing up the contact centre. Sigh.

4 months now and they're still not credited. The staffer said I still had to wait another 6 weeks and if it still hasn't appeared then, then they'd look into it.

This wait is utterly bizarre! I have to wonder if it's the slowest of any airline in the world. It's certainly the slowest I've personally experienced.

Hi, consider contacting FF member The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community - View Profile: RickyRiccardo

I note his last visit was some 3 weeks ago so he may not be a regular contributor (like myself). Best of luck with it :)

Whats anyone's expereinces with earning velocity points on EK flights? Do they take a few days or months?

I have been waiting 1 month already.

From the various posts and the irregualrities it doesn't look like the system is automated for crediting of third party points. I'm not even sure if I should use the work system which implies some consistency ie if all third party points took 6 weeks that would be a system.

When I was following up points from the Virgin Mobile offer I was always given the "6 weeks" line as a way of getting me off the phone and them hoping it sorts through in that time.

From the looks of the various experiences of forum members it looks like some action is need on the part of Velocity.

I do note that time I fly Virgin, that the points usually post within 2 days.

I also note that now that my Virgin Mobile plans are linked, that the points also post for that within 2 days each billing month.

Thanks for that, kab!

I might wait things out for a while since they've assured me that the process is under way - I just find it inconceivably slow!

Regarding albatross' point, when discussing the delay the operator did refer to V Australia as being a third party and that being why it took longer than Virgin Blue.

I can understand the manual process side of it and that it's not integrated, but believe they need to lift their game in processing times. It doesn't take that long to verify a passenger's details, and the surrounding process of transferring lists doesn't need to take even one month...
