How long is too long in the (F) Lounge?

I feel like this one belongs in the “if you have to ask, you know the answer” category. Having said that, I’d have no qualms spending 7 hours in the Flounge and would actually relish the opportunity to do so 😂

Go into town and have lunch with a friend?

I've spent many hours in the lounge against my will, there is alot to do at an airport. Visiting the other lounges, shopping and working can fill up time
I could spend a entire year at an airport in a Fine City but then I don't want to star in The Terminal (plus the Fine government would not be very happy)

I'd usually burn a hour or two on an outdoor terrace with views of the planes, it kinda sucks that Sydney doesn't have any (well, there are a few 30mins walk from Domestic I suppose).

I'm still no closer to knowing the answer.

Think I will just see how I feel in the morning. Either way I've decided I won't be sitting down in the Flounge for 7 hours. I'll at least plan some activities at the airport. Sadly lounge choices are limited to Flounge, Jlounge, and AMEX lounge, and only one of them is worth my time!

Though I might just go to the Jlounge to make myself an espresso martini.

Given you're about to spend so long sitting on a plane, I'd be out of the airport in a flash for at least a couple of hours. I'd want to stretch the legs, the eye balls and breath some fresh air.

You could have a sumptuous breakfast in the Dom J lounge on arrival. The bar doesn’t open until noon. So that’s one less temptation.

Well, there’s that morning coffee option also.

I think you're onto something here. Dom J on arrival if you're hungry, train to city or wherever you want to go to stretch your legs, train back to int terminal, meal, shower and relax in int F before flight.

or the 350 bus to Maroubra or Coogee Beach. Sunny today, if not a tad nippy out. Bus back to T3 and train or airside transfer to T1.

There is no doubt 7hrs+ is a long time, When we faced this at BKK we got a room in the airside hotel for 4 hrs, and had a kip. When we had a long break in LHR we went into the city on the Elizabeth Line for 4 hrs. But Sydney doesn't have the facilities for in terminal rest beyond the lounges. perhaps a lounge crawl involving EK with some walking about would fill the time. But I wouldn't recommend heading into the city unless you had a clear objective, and the train will set you back $30+..

Can't do EK as I'm flying to the US

I will have no trouble killing time in Sydney, the question was is it worth the effort. But I think I will stay at the airport, I'd still want to be back by around 1pm so don't have a lot of time to do anything meaningful.

In September last year we were able to check in on BA16 to SIN at 1150. It was very late with boarding at 8pm. Didn't even think about not spending the time in the Flounge.

Slightly OT but what’s the access rules for SYD EK lounge?

I googled and came to the conclusion I’m ineligible.

WP, travelling QF J with Mrs H and Miss H and have ~5 hr layover to play with when I transit on my next trip.

It depends where you are flying to.

I wouldn't spend any more than 3 hours in QF-F. Enough for a nice, slow paced meal, maybe a shower. I don't think any lounge is worth staying > 3 hours (apart from those with bedrooms eg QR Al Safwa, where you could sleep off a long lay over, or the QR J Garden lounge with a gym where I could go for a run).

If I'm going to be sedentary for a 10+ hour flight, personally the last thing I would want is to sit in a lounge for 7 hours. I'd rather be roaming around the terminal or whatever to keep active.

But that's just me. I don't expect many to agree with this however!! 😂

1735, but yeah. OOL-SYD-LAX-LAS.

I didn't even know they were a thing! Now you've piqued my interest, I might just have to give them a go. I did enjoy my time in the CX Cabanas earlier this year.
They are definitely no CX cabana!

With your layover about 7.5 hours, they will call you to board 45-60min before departure if all on time, so about a 6.5 hr layover. I would spend a few hours in the lounge to start with, spend an hour or so walking around the terminal, then come back for a couple more hours. Since you lived in Sydney before, you aren't going to see much new in leaving the airport for a few hours however understand the not wanting to extend the sitting time...assuming you will be lying some if though.
