How many diverted flights have you been on ?

Just two. My first ever flight was the first (obviously).
Melbourne to Wellington.
Too foggy. Pilot tried three landings all to no avail. Three go arounds.
Ended up divering to Auckland. Sat on tarmac for two hours and flew back to Wellington when the fog cleared.
That was in 1990.
The 2nd was at OOL, about three years ago, when flying JQ, the jet took off suddenly back into the sky and the reason was that a DJ jet was still on the runway and pilots didn't realise until they had a visual.

Since my last post in this thread I have now had a further divert. Friday 10SEP10 flying QF74 from SFO to SYD, and diverted to BNE due to heavy fog. We remained at the gate for about 90mins and there were a number of other a/c at gates also. They allowed about 10 pax to deplane in BNE (without luggage), and then we continued to SYD. I was supposed to be in row 17 upstairs on the 747, but as they have no F on that route was allocated 2K so just had to sit at the gate sipping champers

Two....

SIN-LHR on SQ A380, diverted to DXB due to medical emergency. Was on the ground for two and a half hours before we could be on our way again.

CBR-TVS on VB E-170, diverted to BNE due to technical problem (no idea what, they never said). Transferred to new aircraft in BNE and got into TVS about two hours late.

Both were handled professionally and (relatively) efficiently by both airlines.
