How many likes have you received?

So you've received 16 likes (now!), yet only given 1.

Whereas I've received 3 and given 16.

Life ain't fair!

(Or maybe I just need to improve the comedic value/quality of my posts!)

:D

Received: 11
Given: 8

As long as the number in the first line is greater than the second line, I'm happy:mrgreen:

And I really wish there would be a dislike!

Was tried quite a while ago (Positive / Negative for a post).

Let's just say that it was removed after a short period due to misuse and abuse. Although some of the serial abusers no longer post here (woohoo!), I'm still not sure it would be a success.

Given 32
Received 3

I still maintain the Facebook "Thumbs Up" IMO is better than the AFF "Heart". The heart gives out a little bit too much of "romantic" perception to it, l feel a little bit uncomfortable with it, but that's just me.

You know I think that if this new feature has demonstrated one thing it's that we are very fortunate that we have such a friendly, helpful group of people as members and that even though we don't always agree with each other we still appreciate the contributions made on all sorts of topics and we really are lucky that AFF exists, because without it the frequent flier community in Australia would be worse off.
I value every single contribution that I read on AFF,and even if I don't agree with the views expressed on some topics I appreciate them for what they represent-people from many backgrounds coming together to express a view-and help someone else to understand what can be a minefield of information about the aviation scene in Australia-and the rest of the world.
Kind Regards'
N'oz
btw thanks to everyone for the "Likes"!

I know I asked you all to "have a play" with the new "Like" feature. But, now I also do need to ask you not to play with it too much!

Please do continue to give "Likes" to posts you genuinely do like. But I'd prefer it if you didn't solicit "likes" in your posts. The feature is most effective when used properly, providing all members and visitors an easy way to quickly identify the most popular topics.

"Likes" which have been solicited only serve to clutter the system and devalue the whole system. In this case there will be no point in retaining the feature.

Thanks for your understanding

I'll resist the temptation to like this post!!! :p

I've got 3 likes and given 2 ( I think ), I almost exclusively use the iPhone App unless answering a question where I have to insert webpages or links to previous threads.
Something for Admin to consider adding likes to the App, along with the ability to easily insert links.

Or even on a BB. The like button doesn't show up at all, but people who have liked a post, do.

On the contrary, members and guests soon learn to distinguish between the likes coughs and worthwhile members, as I have noticed on MP. But I do get what you’re saying, and haven’t been angling for any likes here, nor on MP actually, but every post I make there seems to get liked ;)
