How many likes have you received?

On the contrary, members and guests soon learn to distinguish between the likes coughs and worthwhile members, as I have noticed on MP. But I do get what you’re saying, and haven’t been angling for any likes here, nor on MP actually, but every post I make there seems to get liked

The issue with MP is that you get status points (and hence increased status) for being liked. So you end up with counting threads with people liking each others posts. Or threads titled "Please like me". Notwithstanding one or two posts in this thread, I can't say that I have seen such solicitation here.

I guess being new here some may see me as a 'like cough' - I do love that term.... but I genuinely only give a like to those posts that either amuse me, or those that I believe are genuinely valuable - such as worthwhile information - or a post where someone clarifies an argument/asks for world peace, etc. But mostly for the funny ones

I do however agree about the love heart. I only noticed it after a few posts. I like (for lack of a better term) the concept and facility of giving a like to someone's post, but the love heart makes me cringe. No I am not trying to share my lunch with the other kids to make new friends! I just appreciate what has been said

Keep the concept, though maybe a tick in stead of a declaration of being enamoured will find it being used more (but not inappropriately of course!) (Perhaps once someone gets five or more ticks, it could turn into a golden star?)

I know I asked you all to "have a play" with the new "Like" feature. But, now I also do need to ask you not to play with it too much!

Perhaps a warning is required. Too much playing and it will fall off (i.e. be removed) or you will go blind (i.e. the function will not be visible any longer) :shock:.

To all the members posting on this topic, it must be said that counting "Likes" is very egocentric and the behavior of a megalomaniac..... At least that it what I will post to my 400 friends on face book and all my followers Twitter....

Buy adding a like to a post, it shows that l agree with the post and stops me from doing this....

Re-quoting the whole text and then adding "+1"

And l have even seen some people "Re-quote" a massive anat0l post (<-- just as an example ) and then writing, "yes, I agree".

I'll probably just be a "Like cough"....LOL

We have likes AND dislikes on our social network (largest in AUS behind facebook), and it's interesting to see how they are used. It's a great measure of popularity, but that's about all.

+ agreed it's similar to posting "+1"

The 'unlike' would be there in case you had clicked 'like' on the wrong post. Makes sense

Really? It's only a little line at the top of the screen,do you really find it noticeable? I hardly notice it to be honest.
