How much more valuable is an AA mile versus a QF point?

Has anyone done the calcs to see if you could achieve QF WP by doing a xONEx by crediting to QF ?

Also through AAs global desk my understanding was you could start your xONEx in places such as Khartoum or Cairo or Johannesburg where the prices are considerably cheaper. Can you do this with QF ? Or are the prices always the ridiculously expensive ex-Oz prices if booking through QF regardless of where travel commences ?

Thanks
You absolutely can make QF WP on a DONEx or AONEx. In fact, you can get close to getting 2 years of it from one OWE ticket (if you split it across your membership years and don't have to have the initial WP qualification). It just comes down to how creative you are willing to get with your flights and whether that fits in with your actual travel needs.

With booking, you really don't have to book with QF. It doesn't matter which OW airline you use.

Even with the new SC system which started on July 1st ?
D would fall under "business" doesn't it meaning less SCs as I think D and I class now earn less than C and J class ?
But F earning should still be the same as previous with no differentiation between A or F class ?

It also brings to the fore the knowledge that AAdvantage can change at any time without notice.

That's a relief. The way some people post on AFF you would think Qantas is the only FF program to have ever made a change.

I think it will be hard to make WP now with a DONE4.
We are in the process of booking one for next year with 4 USA segments with 15 flights all up.The SCs come to just under a 1000.

For the last few years we could always get over the 1200SCs even with 12 or 13 segments.Only once was I ever able to get to EXP on a DONE4.

Interesting to hear all the comments about what status level is achievable with a done4 in qff vs aa. What I was more getting at (as serfty noted) was that you can get access to owe rewards through qff points (280k for business class). AA removed these awards this year presumably because they were costing too much. Asia Miles still has them (at 220k) although I accept it is much easier for us to accrue qff miles than Asia miles.

But at least there's a direct conversion to Asia Miles on credit cards such as ANZ rewards (and the handy 50k bonus promo ATM) etc

Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out who I should have status with and how to burn points efficiently between AM, AA, AS and QF. Those points purchases were just too tempting at the time and I just don't know how to spend them! (Sorry for being OT)
