Hi all,
I'm currently NB but will be upgrading to PS after a HNK-SYD flight in Jan next year, then I've got a 4hr layover before another flight.
I'd be keen to use the complimentary single access to QC shortly after I land so will the system have updated and given me PS status by the time I travel over to the Domestic terminal? If not, what should I do?

Thanks!

Flights can take up to 48 hours to post and I have never worked out a pattern, so I would assume it wont happen and plan accordingly.

I assume HNK = Hong Kong, in which case HKG is the correct code.

The complimentary Qantas Club access requires the physical card to be handed in, which you'll receive in the post with your silver pack, so you won't be able to use it immediately.

That said it's access to only the Qantas Club which requires you to be flying onwards with Qantas, the only places Qantas flies from HKG these days is back to Australia.

When you move to PS you'll be sent a physical pass to access a Qantas club so you won't have a visit on your lay over. :(

Check the lounge meeting thread to see if another AFFer can guest you on the day.

Not that it matters but the OP has a connection at SYD.

Or buy the AA 30 day pass and use it for the whole trip (assuming its not longer than 30 days)

Thanks for the replies.
Apologies, I did mean Hong Kong.

The flight is returning to Sydney so I'll be transferring to Syd domestic terminal.

Interesting. What lounge would I get access to in Hong Kong and Sydney? Does AA have lounges at both or will they use someone elses (QF?) lounge?
I see that when you're doing an over-night flight, you can access a lounge the following morning. That sounds good as I imagine this means I can use the lounge in HKG (leave at about 9pm) and then again in Sydney (arrive at around 7am and leave at 11am) the following morning?

Only my experience but when I went from SG to WP the flight was Adelaide-Sydney-Brisbane with the first sector being the one that ticked over to WP.

I presented my card at QP to be scanned entry during stopover and the credits had already been recorded and she asked if I wanted to go to business lounge instead.

That's impressive, I don't think I've ever had SCs post in less than 24 hours.

Really? I stepped off a plane about six hours ago and just checked and have posted. Luck if the draw I guess.

Status increases when it posts to you account, provided you have the 4 ~ flights.
I've had QF flights post anywhere from while I'm in the air (ie, they are sent through when the flight departs) to 2 days later.

I've had the credits post by the time I've landed on several domestic flights, but I'd say it's the exception rather then the rule.

AA does not have lounges in HKG or SYD. Admiral Club users have access to the Qantas Club in SYD and the Plaza Premium Lounge in HKG (but not the QF International J Lounge).

Really? I thought that you have to use the lounge of the operating carrier: So QF Lounge with a QF flight. The Plaza Premium Lounge is contracted to AA - so you need an AA Flight to use it. So you probably will refused to enter it with a QF boarding pass.
If you have a QF flight, the QF-Club reciprocal agreement may kick in - and you may be treated as QF-Club member.

In my experience QF takes 1-2 days to post. Only one time have I landed and had it already posted, and that was with BA suprisingly.

And it is really inconsistent - I have often travelled on the same flight as Mr FM (same booking) and one of us has had the flight credited a day or more before the other...

Best I have had for SC's posting was whilst I was still at the original airport. QPI decided to have a dummy spit (the aircraft), so we were stuck in PER for 10 hours. I logged in stuck at the lounge and the points had posted at around the time we were originally meant to land.

As per the OP, try the AA pass as the single use QP voucher is a physical pass unlike the e-passes VA were using.
