[h=3]Baggage Limits[/h]
  • Each piece of baggage must not weigh more than 32kg, or exceed a total linear dimension (length + width + height) of 140cm, per piece. Baggage that exceeds these limits must be transported as Freight. Guests should contact Freight Services on 13 15 06 before arriving at the airport.

Above is the official party line. :p

Which however, appears to be contradicted here -

[h=2]Maximum Limits[/h]Oversized baggage can be checked in, provided each piece does not exceed 32kg in weight. Guests with baggage pieces heavier than 32kg each should contact Freight Services on 138 287 before arriving at the airport.

So these type of things are not regarded as "baggage" I guess?

Bought an old wooden collectible piece down in Adelaide today and had planned to check it back tomorrow. Solid as a rock and will be taped up.

Dimension are 47x28x75 cm = 150 cm, and weight is 27 kilos.

I feel sure the larger suitcases on sees on baggage carousels are often of larger dimensions.

Anyway, was not sure how strict they are at check in - others may know if there is a little wiggle room.

Seems like several 23KG pieces for Plat are OK on coach fare are OK, but not one 27 Kg piece, even tho max weight permitted is 32kg?

Just do not want to get to ADL and have an issue with checking this.

Your mileage may vary, but I've flown BNE-PER several times with samples/tools that are oversize with no issues. Never exceeded 32kg, but have had to drop things off at oversize baggage desk.

I travelled with a folded aluminium panel that was 1.2m wide by 1m long and 350mm at its highest point. Only weighed 7kgs, but was odd shape and well in excess of 140cm.

I've checked in oversize stuff before without issue (had to do the oversize thing, but no issue)
