How to change my ex-CAI RTW ticket to a JL flight?

Different availability for different points of sale. The amount of D seats, on the same flight, can be different for someone buying in the US compared to someone buying in Australia.
Things like married segments, etc can also interfere.
The agent should be able to proactively relate such information to @chan1108 should that be a consideration.

I set Australia to the sales point when I checked the availability in expertflyer. There is enough D class for my flight, but still the agent cannot find in Qantas system.

If the first segment of such a booking has already been traveled, there is nothing in the rules about repricing if the fare level has increased.

See sections 16(a)1 & 16(a)2
oneworld Explorer Rules

Equally, there's nothing in the rules that say there is no reprice. That's the problem.

It's long been accepted that there's no reprice after the first flight and there's also a valid argument to be made that you can make changes prior to the first flight, without repricing, provided the date of the first coupon is not changed. Again, though, the problem is the absence of language similar to "If the fare level has increased since ticket issuance the difference between the old and new fare will also be charged", but in reverse. That's what QF seems to be relying on.

Chan1108, I think a bigger part of the problem is Qantas no longer files ex-Egypt xONEx fares, meaning it can't even reprice it. I've had an ex-CAI DONE5 queued with QF since the pound's revaluation in March. It shows "Confirmed" against all the flights in my QF profile and has done for the past four months. Qantas just never ticketed it. Now I get 'Your flight has changed' emails, but Qantas is clueless about what to do with the booking when I call.

The ticket was issued by QF, I suppose Australia should be the point.

no, your departure point is Cairo, so it would make sense that would be POS. It would be very similar to me being in NZ, but asking a travel agent to get me a SYD-AKL fare, but cost/availability etc will be based on ex-SYD availability

JL do operate fairly rigid POS inventory restrictions. I have tried to price tickets from AU-US previously and have sometimes found inventory different on the JL website itself compared with EF. Also I believe JL do married segment ticketing as well so it depends on your stop over duration in Tokyo

I'm pretty sure no one does any ex-Egypt RTW fares anymore after the revaluation, both within OW and for other alliance RTWs. There's no fares filed if you check on Expert Flyer.

The fares are still there .. the change was from EGP to USD.. there are many countries that have unstable currency that have airfares loaded in USD and not local

They got rid of RTW ex-Egypt fares for a while when the EGP crashed (after oneworld airlines got flooded with ex-CAI bookings).
At some point it was refiled as USD.

UPDATE:

The agent today I chat with is the former one who can find the JL D class but take too long in reply which made me unable to finish my change today.

So - where is now the cheapest country to book a DONE4? Japan?

Where are you seeing prices?

They are filed in USD.
