My review date for Velocity Gold is August 30 and am 7 status credits shy of keeping my status. Has anyone got any ideas on how to earn 7 status credits without flying in the next 22 days?

We will be flying Singapore Air on the 11 September, has anyone had any luck in getting Velocity to agree to a grace period after their status has ended?

Thanks

Spend $700 at Coles between now and the end of August - thet'll give you 7 SC's.

The $700 is sound, but is that the start or end of your review date?

You status won't drop until the review is complete.

How do I know what the start and end of my review date is? It just says status credits required by 30 August. How long is the review period?

And your Singapore flight could be included also, although if you did the $700 and that got you over, you wouldn't want to "waste" the SC on an expired year, headstart to the next year. Actually come to think of it, it wouldn't matter as unless you had points expire between now and your Singapore flight, that would drag you back over the 400 you need to maintain, so even if you temporarily lost it, you'd get it back if you flicked up to over 500. I think that's how it works, just like if you hit 1000 you'd suddenly land platinum.

Your review date would be the anniversary of when you hit gold I would have thought. I think they take up to 4 weeks to complete the review of determining your next year's status (keep gold/drop silver or something else).

Its one month on the card but in effect it's two to three weeks.

As for flybuys, the SC's will credit dated 31st Aug. but it will be a few days later before they post.

It's unlikely the review will be completed before you travel.

At only 7 short and forward travel booked, contact them and ask nicely to be retained at current level. I did this when I was around 10 short and a return J to AUH booked. I had flown about 28 sectors in that year already.

Happy to do a status run on your behalf.

Worth noting that buying giftcards at Coles would be unlikely to count for SCs

Surely you could way more than 7SCs worth of status run flights for less than $700, even with short notice? You could also get someone in your family to pool it to you if they have some travel in the next week or two.

The difference being the OP would get to keep the $700 of food, fuel, gift cards etc purchased and also not be required to spend at least 4hrs of their time doing a status run.

Thanks everyone. I've just bitten the bullet and booked a status run to Sydney. I'll spend the day there and enjoy some warmer weather before flying home.

Fuel at Coles Express doesn't count for SCs either
Liquorland does though
Agree that you get to keep the $700 of groceries which is the financial advantage over an 'unnecessary' status run
