How to find your LATAM PNR for seat selection on QF codeshare?

I just booked a classic reward on a Latam flight SCL - EZE. I tried seat assignment on RJ but it failed so tried on MH and it worked even though it said it failed. I can see the seat assignment on Qantas. I am yet to find anywhere that shows Latam PNR.
Ditto. Just booked SCL-MVD/EZE-SCL as QF CRs. I wasn’t offered seat selection during the booking process snd QF MMB doesn’t provide that function and as expected the PNR wasn’t recognised by LATAM.

By default I tried BA.com which opened but no LA PNR nor seat selection.

Tried MH, again no LA PNR but able to select seats (despite an error) as mentioned above. So at least that works for seat selection.

I had to call LATAM to obtain their corresponding PNR in order to select seats

I’ll call one of them in due course. I guess I’ll need it to check in online…. But the MH method does work if you just want to select seats - well, at least on non codeshare flights.

I recall the used to be a lookup function on the LATAM website but it’s not leaping out at me.

BTW, eTicket number doesn’t work in the reference field nor did trying DL’s website (on the off chance they’ve integrated their systems).

According to Youtube's Ryansofly, the LATAM phone center has been outsourced to a call center in India.
His flight, AKL - SYD, one day last year, was delayed for a long time, then the flight got cancelled.
No one at AKL to help him, he tried to phone the LATAM call center, and it got put off to India.
Tho, they might have done the call center back to South America, but at the least, if its India, you will know!
Yes, I know, not the same scenario and as as easy as yours, Airwin.

Just tried the Malaysian Airlines trick. Successfully selected seats for an economy GRU-MVD flight with the same error displayed as mentioned above, however still wasn't able to select BOS-GRU business seating for some reason. It just wouldn't seem to register/save.

Bingo! I found this hack over on FT.

Rather than trying “Manage your trip” with QF PNR (which doesn’t work), you go to “Check In”! 🙄

Enter your QF PNR and it‘ll prompt you for an administrator email address to associate with the booking. Once you’ve done that it will pull up the booking with the LA order number top right. You can select seats, add extra luggage etc.

That trick worked perfectly - thanks.

SYD, is that within the 24 hours before flight, or can it be done even tho the flight is long beyond 24 hours prior.
(((Where we would usually get an error code))),
I have flown LA twice, quite like their 787.
Prefer their seating plan with good viewable outside window, rather than with the QF which has the seat blocking view.
But after they left OW, I haven't yet flown them, my last flight was pre covid.
Granted that now QF does fly their 787 most days of the week, between SYD - AKL,
Only reason I would pick to fly the LATAM flight, is they fly off later near midday.
Of course, they could cancel flights, if a plane goes techno.

Anytime. My flights are next year. Crazy that “Checkin” recognises the Amadeus PNR but MMB doesn’t 🤷‍♂️.

I said earlier that there used to be a search function to retrieve the LA booking ref but this is a little bizarre. Anyway, it works!

Hello, I have a similar situtation that I can't get around:

Booked via LATAM website a round trip that has SCL-SYD-SCL operated by Qantas (QF 27/28).

Called both airliners, Qantas can't see the trip and told me to call Latam. Latam can see the trip but can't give me the reference to use on Qantas website and said that it's not possible and I can only pick seats at the airport.

This is for my mother in law who's never flown by herself and I'd like to guarantee some good seats for her and not gamble with what's available on the day.

Anyone can give me a tip? Tried to find her on Malasya and BA but no success.

How did all of this end up? I am in the same situation right now! Booked flights using LATAM website and now I want to book the seats for the Qantas flight between SCL and SYD but QANTAS cannot find the reference number. Is those 48 hours a real thing?

Hi Rogerio,

Spent hours on the phone with Qantas and Latam (tried different offices in Brazil, Chile and Australia) and it's basically impossible to do it, they will randomly assign a seat 48 prior or you can pick at the check-in queue.

The only way around and to give you a better chance: I went to Sydney airport the day before and they were able to pick a seat for my mother in law at the Qantas counter (and also confirmed that it's impossible to do it online).

Do you have an eTicket number? Pondering if one of the airline websites (or apps) that accept tickets or PNRs could help? JAL?

Seat selection on LA codeshares operated by QF is often broken. As it is a blockspace codeshare, the QF PNR is only created 72 hours out. You can call QF at 72 hours out and they can find the QF PNR by name/ticket number and assign a seat that way.

Wow......such a horrible experience!

Just to confirm, your mother-in-law flew from Chile to Australia. Is that correct? And you went to the Qantas counter here in Australia, not in Chile?

Reading what you are saying, I will probably not bother to spend hours over the phone then.

Thank you.

Now, the question I have is: Do you think you need to wait for 48 hours before the flight scheduled time to go to the Qantas check-in? Or if I go there before, would I get the same outcome?

I have the eticket number. I managed to talk with Qantas. The person managed to find my ticket but he doesn't have the authority to change it because it is not a QANTAS e-ticket and he said there wasn't any QANTAS booking reference associated with the e-ticket. Probably the 72 or 48 hours thing is real and I will only be able to get this sorted close to the date.
