Stupid question, but looking at the program rules it seems like you need 4,000 points first to get to Blue status (*A Silver), and then another 16,000 to get to Gold (hence the 20,000 mentioned here).
So is it confirmed that if you do for example AKL-LAX (6500 miles) at 200% in Business return, that you qualify by simply achieving the 20,000 on the whole trip, and that it does not count like this: 13,000 on the first leg (so you've got Blue when arriving in LAX), then you get another 13,000 on the second leg, but still not enough for Gold as you need 16,000 according to the program rules?
I read it that you would get blue (4K miles) on the outbound, plus 9K miles going towards the Gold. The inbound 13K should then take you over the line with plenty (6K) to spare. But that is only my take on it, and I can see why you asked.
