I went and updated my address and got this - and yet the details have stuck in my account.

Sorry

According to the new information you have attempted to give us, your preferred address is no longer within the country to which you are currently registered. As this requires us to transfer your membership to another region, you will need to contact your current Service Centre in order to make this change.
We therefore have not updated your profile with other amendments you may have requested. If you wish, you can go back and review your original profile to make any changes that do not require a transfer of membership.

They don't want to let me move from Wales to Australia.
And yet when you click "Continue", the details do stick. I'll give them a call on the GGL line to check.

Called the UK GGL line - the online update happened and there is nothing more to do - you can safely ignore the alert as long as your updated account shows the correct address.

So I can move back home from Devon.
Now only have to move my AA billing address back home from Maine.

.I have one of those Scottish titles (a gift from a friend who obviously recognises class when she sees it) so I may have to update my address and add my title.
One way to get a UK address, and you get to help an environmental cause, is to 'gain' yourself a Scottish Title - ignore what that @TonyHancock chappie said.

Sign up to Highland Titles (Highland Titles | Become a Laird, Lord or Lady of Glencoe), get yourself the right to a square foot of land (MrsK pictured standing on our estate) and use their office address. And you can select 'Lady' from the drop down titles when setting up a Qantas booking.

I've changed my address to Coffs Harbour and added my scottish title so the BA site now addresses me as Lord J...

Looks good; can't wait to see the reaction when it appears on my next BA boarding pass.

Given BAEC has a 3 year addition or your points expire rule, does anyone have any suggestions for adding a minimum 1 avio from Australia to keep your Avios alive ?

Well now I believe in Faries. I just logged into my BAEC account and magically one Avio has been credited under
“Avios Reward Flight Saver Activation“, thus extending the balance validity for another 3 years. Apparently this is being done randomly. Thank you BA. 😄

Wow, that's great. I need activity before the end of this year and wasn't one of the lucky ones to be credited one Avios. Out of interest, is your address listed as AU/NZ and when were your miles due to expire, if you don't mind me asking?

Address is located in the UK. I have no BA status and Avios were expiring in August 22. Search “Avios Reward Flight Saver Activation” and there’s a discussion on FT.

Have never really bothered with them in the past but definitely something to think about especially with QF continuing to punish us for flying out of ADL with other OW members

So I bit the bullet but as a BAEC newbie I’m kindly after a few answers from seasoned veterans.
I should possibly reach 1500 TP’s through just QF domestic flying but in regards to the 4 BA or IB flights I noticed that the IB flights have to be on operated AND marketed IB flights whereas BA only needs to be on BA marketed flights so by my reading a ADL-SYD-SIN return booked on BA numbers would get me 4 eligible flights?
Secondly if if get to 1500+ TP‘s without flying with BA and then just do my BA flights last, I presume I would automatically go straight from Blue to Gold?

Spot on. As it took me a while to get the 4 BA flights, I have never been BA Silver. :D

Any codeshare will do with BA, although I have no experience with IB.

According to this it looks like codeshares are no good for IB

Eligible flights are defined as those flights marketed or operated by British Airways and those flights marketed and operated by Iberia.

  • 'Marketed' means the flight will have a BA flight number (in your itinerary or on your ticket).
  • 'Operated' means the aircraft that you travel on is a British Airways aircraft (including franchises and BACityflyer).
  • 'Marketed and operated by Iberia' means the flight will have an IB flight number and the aircraft you travel on is an Iberia aircraft (including franchises).

Its not a real issue for me as I don’t travel on IB a lot and BA have some good codeshare options in Australia that should do the job.

Regarding Mrs Jase, should I sign her up or just add her to my Household Account?
She doesn’t fly as much Dom as me so being able to still earn TP’s whilst pooling the Avios seems a good option

It is up to you/Mrs Jase what FF program she signs up to. As long as she signs up to something!

She is currently QF SG but all of our OS trips are together and we are looking at changing programs as we are sick of being punished by QF for flying other OW airlines. The MH earn is actually woeful by QF.
Just doing basic maths it looks like I can get better earn for domestic flights with BAEC than QFF too

I like to try out different airlines sometimes involving a quick look/stopover at transit cities I haven't been to before. This makes me less keen on QFF. One disadvantage is that QF will usually let immediate family of QF SG/WP into their lounges but are strict on the 1 visitor rule for other OW status-holders
