How to tell which VA 737s have been refurbished

I've got a few flights coming up on Virgin Australia 737s. Does anyone know how to tell if these flights have the refurbished interiors? I like the look of the new economy X seats because of the extra recline but don't want to waste my money if it's one of the non-refurbished planes

Plane isn't guaranteed though. e.g. when I booked my MEL-BNE flight, it was a 737 8 Max, but it seems to now be a 737-800

Unless you're flying a flight of over 3 hours really the current seats are perfectly good. Where the refurbishment really comes into its own is in business class, where the seats are significantly more comfortable (thanks largely to the leg rests and footrests).

On the other hand, the lack of dividers in the refurbished planes makes the business class experience more unpleasant due to the people from economy class lining up to use the front toilet.

But especially if you're flying economy on a short flight (where reclining is unnecessary), it's in my view a little melodramatic to describe the old seats as a waste of money.

Yep, I prefer the old layout/seating when in J on any domestic flight, as I'd rather have the divider. Not having the divider devalues J in my view and I book in Econ X if I am aware of the refurb on said aircraft.

We all have different needs. I have severe neck pain meaning I struggle with even short flights without recline. I don’t have the budget for business class

The increased recline isn't that significant - if you need to recline stump up the cash for eco-x refurbished or non-refurbished.
