Hi everyone,

sorry if if this is in the wrong forum, I've put it in here as I'm familiar with velocity but not at all with KrisFlyer. With the ability to know transfer velocity to KrisFlyer, I noticed that with the KrisFlyer program you can use points to upgrade star alliance airlines flights.

In my situation i am looking at booking an air nz service to ZQN, and was looking at purchasing a Y fare and upgrading to J.

Would anyone be able to explain to me how this would work through the KrisFlyer program?

Thanks in advance

First off, for *A upgrades from Y, you must buy a Y or B class ticket. None of the discounted fares can be upgraded from another program. Often the price differential between Y and the cheapest J ticket isn't much so you're better off buying J.

Second, I'm guessing that you are looking at one of the direct flights to ZQN on a a320? Those don't have J to upgrade to.
