Applied last Thursday and it still shows as processing when I check the website with the reference number. Are they normally this slow?

I recall them being quick to approve the QF plat card and much slower when I applied for the plat fee free for life card.

I applied on a Monday and received my card on Thursday of the same week. I should point out I have the Woolies EDR Mastercard (applied when it first came out and thus have provided ID to HSBC already) and chose NOT to nominate my credit limit, both of which likely made mine a quick application to process.

I applied Friday last week (2 business days I guess) and have heard nothing. No phone calls or email queries...

They rang me this afternoon and wanted my last tax return. Would you believe they don't accept by email, and want it posted, but couldn't give me their postal address so they are posting me a letter with their postal details - you've got to be kidding me...

Mrscove had a lag with nothing said but it came thru in the end and it is working. Be patient! Way less questions than QCU!

Yes, will wait for the letter patiently than snail mail the docs. Good luck to them understanding my returns :)

Finally a letter arrived for ID docs to be posted back. It surprises me that HSBC has not yet arrived in 1997 and started taking documents by email like the other banks!

HSBC are difficult, so say the least. They won't even entertain anything via email (as it doesn't meet their "security requirements") and they use the annoying system of calling you from a blocked number and asking for your credit card number, mothers maiden name, DOB etc etc before they even speak to you!

Mrscove is excited because her new card is a non Qantas version so she can go Asia Miles and Kris Flyer Miles. Now this is a really good card that she has.

Yes I found them slow too. I think it was approx 14 days.

I did get my card in the end.

I thought only HSBC Premier card could redeem its points to Asia Miles and Krisflyer not platinum card.

For those who are patient and don't go Qantas in the Platinum card a nice surprise is heading your way. I will not spoil the surprise but I was delighted for Mrscove going to HSBC.

Always bear in mind that as with most of the bank in house points schemes, the HSBC points convert to frequent fliers at ratio of 2 to 1. The 2500 Krisflyer points will need 5000 HSBC points, so the real spend rate is .625 Krisflyers per $1 spend.

However the direct QF 1 point per $1 spend for no annual fees is looking good for my particular point of view.

Received my letter today requesting info. I sent in a ream of docs. Let's see what happens.

How do you get the 0.625 conversion ?

Surely its 0.5 to Krysflyer Asia Miles as you note in yoru post?

If $1/1 Point is the case for the QF Platinum card then that would have to be twice as good?

Can others enlighten me on what is asked for by way of verification documents for income etc?

Yes the QANTAS $1/1 point is twice as good as the bank in house points scheme.

I had the impression that HSBC was 1.25 (HSBC points) per $ spend hence half being .625. Sorry I probably confused it with the Wespac Altitude Black master card ( 1.25) that I was checking out at the same time.
