What are the main benefits of this card?

How are you checking your total annual spend? Is it on the HSBC site or on the Star Alliance Rewards site somewhere? I can't recall seeing this ever

It’s incredibly difficult to find, especially mid statements. It’s also very complicated, obviously by design. Additionally, I chose United Airlines Gold. Once I got to the US, we were refused access to their lounges in LA and Denver because we were flying domestically. All in the microscopic small print. Try finding out the details and you get transferred to their Philippine call centre. From there you get parcel-passed around their system where no-one has a clue. Now I have reached my $60k spend I want to return to my Amex Platinum charge card. The points are far more generous, flexible and last a lifetime. I still can’t discover when my Gold status ends and when I should start spending again. Has anyone had similar experiences?

Applied for card in late Jan 2025...as soon as uploaded payslips, card approved next business day. Took 1 week for card to arrive. Spent $4000+ day card arrived. 2 days later received email to nominate Star Alliance partner for *A Gold....nominated Air Canada's Aeroplan....14 days later (as stated), namely today, Aeroplan App showed I'm now *A Gold till 31.12.2026.
