Perhaps going off topic at times may not be such a bad thing lol

As the co-founder of the thread with @Ansett it was deliberately created in the "Open Discussion" sub-forum because I expected some weird interactions from hotel/bank/loyalty scheme and ...
I'm sure it'll evolve over time, but it's not airline specific.

OK. I'll start with one OT anecdote, but I will try to put a travel spin on it. ;)

I needed to renew a development approval and Qld had moved from council approval to private certifier for the building only. Did all that but had some telephone cowboy tell me I also had to renew the plumbing approval. (plumbing still resides with council)

Mentioned this fact to the telephonist who proceded to instruct me I was wrong and I would need to pay them $3500 for a new approval. HUCA and got another tower of intelligence who repeated the same. Reluctantly, I rang council and got the answer I expected. Called back the so called professionals and was told I was mistaken! They then stated I'd need to give them that in writing (oh joy, have you ever tried to get anything in writing from council), so I told them it was not their domain. No go. No building approval without the plumbing, with which was not theirs to be involved.

Rang council back. Told I was right. I asked for confirmation in writing. "Say what?? Writing?? Are you mad. This is council. We don't put things in writing!"

HUCA and and ask to speak to the guy I had elicited the name of that I was told was the boss. "Say what? The boss doesn't speak to plebs like you!" HUCA and ask to speak to the boss. "He's not available right now but leave me your number and I'll ask him to ring you". Better news and much to my surprise, he did ring me and said that he'd twice been asked this question and perhaps he should send me an email confirming it!

YES PLEASE! I now have the confirmation and I took great pleasure jamming it into the w@nkers at the private certifiers and have now had the plumbing inspected and passed. I'm still waiting for Bubbles and Bobo from the private certifiers (who says council were slow) to finish the building approval (which has previously been approved by council).

The $3.5k will go nicely toward paying for bareboating Croatia next year! :p
