Humidifier on long haul flights

Do you think one day they could put humidifiers on long haul flights?

it's my biggest sticking point about flying... I fall asleep, 3 hrs later I wake up and my throat is parched...
 
The composite material on the 787 will allow it tobepressurised at lower levels, increasing humidity. Less airframe stress guess?
 
The answer to this question I've received in the past is that the higher the % of humidity in the cabin then the higher the weight and in turn increased fuel burn.

I don't imagine airlines are in a rush to increase their fuel costs at present:shock:
 
I thought corrosion had something to do with it? The composites in the 787 don't corrode and thus a higher cabin humidity is permitted.

I've been on a JQ flight out of Darwin where steam was coming out of the air conditioning and condensing on the sealing. That's humidity for ya!
 
Try wearing a surgical mask. Or drape a handkerchief or thin scarf / muffler / shirt over your face. This way you breathe in air you have humidified. Place it so that some fresh can get in, but the bulk of the air has some of the vapour you have breathed out.

If it's your throat, the mask / hanky will stop everyone knowing for sure who is snoring.

If your nose also gets dry, some nasal spray or a little finger loaded with pawpaw ointment up the nostrils also helps.

Also, if you are well hydrated ALL your mucous membranes are happier.
 
I always carry and use fess frequent flyer, works a treat log haul. Use before and during.

A retired Cathay pilot said that they used Vicks in the nose plus drink water.

This is exactly the reason why I invented the HumidiFlyer. I was an International flight attendant for many years and the lack of hydration was a major concern.

As for airlines providing humidity, the coughpits of the 747 have been humidified for years. Never mind the passengers!
The new Boeing aircraft which is claiming to provide humidity will be interesting to watch. The airlines would need to carry large volumes of water. What is the likelihood of that happening?
 
A G&T provides all the humidity I need.

But they loose the fizz and get warm if you leave them next to your seat for a quick nap, on my last flight I assumed I was picking up my water glass and it was a warm watered down baileys :shock:

I must say that now i use a Cpap device with a humidifier, I never seem to have a problem. But it may be the 4 G&T that do it I'm not prepared to test it and go with out the G&T's to find out.

I don't use my humidifier on an aircraft as it kills the battery too quickly. I could take the powered seat but those are usually down the back of the aircraft.

The 747 classics used to carry water for the engines. Water injection for increased performance at take off. So they can carry it if they want to.
