I can confirm the destination is certainly worth the effort. However... I disageee in that the destination really couln't be much more simple to get to... it has direct flights (albeit long :)) Unlike for example the Seychelles or Male etc which require change or aircraft and transits.

Yep, true. I guess I meant couldnt make use of any FF points, or earn any that were useful for that matter. Good to hear that it's worth the trip. I've already been to Maldives a few times, and MRU looks like best of both worlds, with a bit more to do, easy to move around etc, choice of restaurants etc etc. Thanks.

just be very careful if you intend to hire a motorcycle or car... lots of accidents with those involving tourists.

Domaine Les Pailles, just outside of Port Louis has three excellent restaurants... a little on the pricey side but the atmosphere is excellent... tripadvisor ranks the Indian restaurant there a bit down the list, but it is well worth the visit... all the waiters in traditional dress with traditional music played live while you eat.

A few key phrases here: "my husband refuses to pay the extra $$$" ".....is happy in econ"....."whY does not bother him"....."he is happy for me to go J". All of the above equals your 'get out of jail free' card.

Hold on now ozbeachbabe.......IME, whenever the better half allows me the "freedom" to make a decision, its all ok, as long as the decision is the same one she would have made. But if its not, that get out of jail card quickly turns into 6 months of solitary because "I should have known better". I've since learned my lesson, even turning down a PE upgrade at the gate from LAX to MEL, as despite protests to the contrary, if i took it, id never have heard the end of it!

To the OP, do as you wish, but expect the same response from your other half as you would give him if the shoe was on the other foot.

As he does not want to fly J for his own personal reasons, and apparently enjoys or has no problem flying Y (zone), you must remember that you are making him feel better by letting him remain there ...

I agree completely. From what has been said, he would be totally :( in J.

Wilco your situation is a tad different because when blokes (as in the OP's hubbie) say it's fine, it is.....but for some women (not all mind you) "fine" can mean something like "you'll pay for it later". I suspect your SWMBO may fall into the latter camp.  :o

Like most others have said, stay up the pointy end and leave him down the back. He'll be happy if you're happy
I forgot to post back on the outcome, I twisted his arm and made him fly J also :)
