Looking forward to trying it out, getting a bit fed up of substandard treatment at Hilton to be honest.

Being a HHonors gold/diamond for the last 11 years, treatment can certainly vary.

You'll enjoy the 4 DSU's you'll get and (I believe) you'd likely have status 'till Feb 2018 so there's another 4 in March next year.

Also, it's 25 stays to retain (although Hyatts are generally a little more expensive).

Brilliant news, my status does extend until 2018.
I'll still stay at my favourite Hiltons and Conrads but it's time to spread my spend around a bit.

Just a note that since this year, "Diamond Suite Upgrades" (DSU's) needs to be applied to reservations for dates no later than the end of February the year after they hit your account.

i.e. Any from this year can be used for reservations up until Feb 28th 2017, but no later.

Since MrsDaver6 didn't receive a welcome pack or anything explaining the DSU's, does one just book the most basic room, call up and get a suite? Or how does it work?

Make sure there's availability for the suite type first.

To see how many upgrades you have check your activity on your GP login.

Note there are threads on FT listing the suites used for DSUs at properties.

Also keep in mind you can upgrade from a points and cash booking!

No I don't believe there's any status match program running just now.
