I’m about to fall 10 SC short of WP retention

Membership year concludes 31 March. I don’t have time or inclination to take a short status run by Monday.

Tracking for 1190 SC once everything I’ve recently travelled posts.

I received the status retention email about ten days ago, but I’m baulking at throwing 120k points at this.

I‘ve been WP for ten years.

Any thoughts on how to acquire 10 status credits in two days when not travelling? Most of the on-ground possibilities look like they will take more than a couple of days to set up and/or become eligible for SC. I’m beginning to think that hoping to get comp’ed is all that’s left.

Safest and easiest way is to fly syd-mel or similar unfortunately...

I assume you won’t get a loyalty bonus with your still to post activity?

I’ll be interested to hear your outcome.
No, I’ll have about 800 SC that meet the loyalty bonus criteria once everything posts. I’ve had a few DSC trips. So I’m quite a bit short of the next one.

Yes, rather. Quite a bit of domestic travel for work in the last week. Unfortunately I had to cancel one trip due to a family health matter that arose. Otherwise I would have reached the WP threshold.
Have you already done Green Tier?

Whilst you can technically knock over all leaves in a few minutes, they take ~48 hrs to post before you can then take 50 SCs.

Thanks for the CBR and MEL suggestions. If other commitments weren’t getting in the way I’d take one of the short status runs but these aren’t an option today and tomorrow.

I will repost to let people know of the outcome as it is unlikely I’ll be surrendering 120K in points to hold on to WP. There might be room for negotiation on that …

No. I haven’t. I looked it on Friday but thought it wouldn’t make 31 March.

Dang. You can technically knock over all the leaves in a day but they take ~48 hrs to appear and the choice to chose SCs or points shortly after. So yep, probably too late now but could have made it if started last Thu or Fri at the latest (but still cutting it fine).

Yeah for future reference, the only one that needs you to be out of the house is the offset flying. Once that's done the other 4 leaves can be done in 5mins from your computer at home. It tajes about 12-48h to show up.

You don’t need to leave the house for the offset flying. Just need to make a booking and pay the offset. The flight can be months away.

The quick update is I have been told I will be comped.

The longer update is that I called the status retention number regarding my situation.

Things have changed quite a bit since I received the retention email. I had 930 SC at that time and currently have 1170 SC with twenty more to post.

I was asked by the consultant whether I would be travelling today and replied that I wouldn’t but was aware that 20 SC from recent travel were yet to post.

At that point the consultant informed that he could see that based on my travel activity Qantas will continue to provide WP for the next year as a goodwill gesture and if I have any problems once the new membership year commences to call them back.

That result is reasonable. I wouldn’t have been impressed if I’d missed by 10 SC and Qantas refused to comp me.

Should be automatic goodwill if you are short by less than you had surplus the year prior.

That stops people pushing their luck year on year, but also allows for reasonable discretion like this case. Doesn’t have to be an official rollover just a back end qualifier.
