Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but has anyone else had an issue with claiming Qantas missing miles when flying with Iberia?

Im sure they are a oneworld partner but the airline is not selectable from the “claim missing points” section of the Qantas website. (Unless I’m going blind in my old age…)

https://www.qantas.com/fi/en/frequent-flyer/my-account/points-activity/claim-missing-points.html

I’ve called QFF a few times (they said they’d come back to me) and written a few emails but haven’t had an answer.

I’m trying to remain loyal to the QFF program while Qantas isn’t flying internationally, but if my oneworld flights aren’t getting points/status with Qantas I think I might be better off changing.

Thanks in advance,

Josh

Points not crediting is the fault of Iberia, not Qantas. Just to get that out of the way.

If you can’t select the airline online you have to do a manual points claim by phone or email, I recommend by email and include your boarding pass(es)

Please understand Australia is going through a very difficult time at the moment and a lot of their staff are processing cancellations and refunds. I’m sure they will get to it but could take a few months.

Perhaps QF confused it with Air Berlin and removed Iberia from the drop down list instead?

There was once when I tried to submit a claim for missing points from a partner airline flight but the destination didn't appear for selection, I ended up emailing QF as @justinbrett suggested...

Yep, email boarding pass and eticket to [email protected] ... you did hold on to your boarding pass right? :)

Preferably your eticket will show the exactly booking class which needs to be listed in the below table, otherwise the fare won't be eligible to earn QFF points & SC.

Honestly nothing to do with QF and everything to do with Iberia. Iberia have decided that they don't want an easy retrospective claim process, unlike the other carriers.

I know you are the 'Insider' but I am struggling to believe Iberia is responsible for the drop-down options on the Qantas missing points claim form.

From my past claims for JL, MH, 3K and JQ flights, I can say with certainty that missing points claims on partner airlines are a problematic area for QFF and very often it has nothing to do with the partner airline - I've had to explain the partner airline earning tables and earn categories to QFF reps multiple times.

That pretty much mirrors my experience. If something doesn't credit automatically it is always a painful experience as I have to go back to Qantas multiple times by email before they eventually credit whilst they go through a range of inaccurate responses - such as "ineligible booking class", "non-oneworld partner", "flight already credited", "flight credited to another frequent flyer programme" etc.

IB flight numbers on BA metal is certainly one I have had trouble with before not automatically posting.

As already mentioned Iberia isn't in the drop down list, so it needs to be sent by email, and be prepared to wait a while before you get any response. If it is eligible be persistent if they initially fob you off.

Just to be clear to others, despite the title of this thread, Iberia is eligible for Qantas points in all revenue booking classes (ie, anything except X, P and U for awards in economy, premium and business respectively.

You honestly believe that Qantas checks other airlines data when doing retrospective claims?
No, all the retro claims are sent to the other carriers to verify, then QF would bill those carriers for the points earnt. Generally the airlines that are not on the drop down list didn't want a semi automatic claims process.
If there has been a automatic error in posting points - then that's a QF issue.

QFF is still responsible for the form.

If they were remotely interested in improving customer experience they would list every partner airline in the drop down, and automate the ones they can or create support tickets for the one they can't. It's pretty clear that customer experience is bottom of the priority list at Qantas Loyalty.

It has been a painful help chasing experience now for many years

In each case it’s “wait 14 business days” conversation with you repeating the same story

On the very rare occasion the person on the end of the phone will tick something and it’s done

Failure demand!

Once again, it's up to the other airline to confirm that you have travelled, how on earth is Qantas able to verify another airline if that other airline hasn't sent through the details in the first place.

It probably doesn’t help when IB still give out incompatible 5 digit PNRs (even though their own MMB expects 6 digit)!

But at least QF has IB in the drop down now.

SYD+1 just booked via Iberia with IB codes: BER-MAD-LHR (with BA metal to LHR). Received a 5 digit code that didn’t work with BA seat selection (free as QF WP)…. I managed to get the Amadeus PNR, so at least one seat sorted.

I suspect a points claim will be required in due course.

Qantas certainly couldn’t verify the flown status with the other airline, if (previously) I’d didn’t allow the pax to identify the other airline on the claim form to be claimed from!

Anyway, SYD reports that the drop-down menu has been fixed to include IB.
