When I'm travelling by myself I am ok to go down market a bit, it's not such a big deal but when with someone, well that's a whole other story. :mrgreen:

As part of my trip across the ditch was wanted a reasonable accommodation option downtown that won't break the bank. Thanks to a recent promo that will see me score close to 200 Euro worth of points from Accor after three stays, the Ibis Styles at $90 NZ won the vote. I also have an Ibis Business Card that gets me 10% off which helps.

200 euro worth , given 2000 points is 40 euro. The close to statement refers to the way they get converted when using them locally.

Interesting. I was only aware of an 8,000 point promotion (putting aside the ill fated Aeroplan promotion). Was this a personalised offer of 10,000 points, or was it publically available?

Yes, but was it for 10,000 points? The ones in my account, and those of other people I know had an offer that was for 8,000 points over three stays. Was this your offer, or was it something different? Perhaps related to the IBIS card you hold?

It was stay three and get 10000, I held nothing other than Plat at the time of rego.

Maybe it was a plat thing. I was gold, and was only offered 8,000 (1+3+4). I had not heard anywhere around the traps of people being offered 10,000.
