Just thought I'd mention my recent experience with Customer Relations at Istanbul IC ....
I've been planning my grand trip ( for me any anyway ... ) to Gallipoli in April / May ( staying at various IHG properties in Europe / UK / Africa ).
Considered the properties for Reward Points value, or cash 'value'.
When it came to the Istanbul IC, it seemed a waste of 50,000 points, as a cash booking would seem 'better value'.
Booked a Standard Room, with the intent of asking for the Club Access upgrade fee ( Best Flex, so can be modified etc. if decided to change rooms )
Sent an email, and got a great response back.
The 'offer', was that if I book a 'Deluxe Room', as a Plat AMB they will upgrade me to a "Club Room".
So I went back to Bookings, and 'modified' my booking to a 'Deluxe Room', however, for whatever reason, it seemed I actually re-booked an 'Advantage Saver' room ( Deluxe ),
and this meant it was a 'pre-paid' booking, that my on-file card will be charged prior to checking in ( either now, or anytime before check in ).
Sent another email, to try to get out of this ...
Received another response, stating Istanbul IC has modified my booking to a 'King Club City View' room, to be charged at the 'Deluxe Room' rate.
A saving of some 90 Euros !!
If only the Australian ICs were as helpful and generous !!!
