Ah, yes, my that idea about a one visit to the/any QF F lounge while flying int with QF/OW/EK/JQi was a once in a lifetime thing idea, not annually, should have added that.
After all, QF can keep a record of our join QF FF month and year.
Surely they could keep a record of who has and who hasn't done a once in a lifetime visit to a QF F lounge.
But... dream on, eh?
You've been to the F lounge now so no need to dream.
As for why would QF offer passengers a pass to visit the F lounge (or any lounge) when flying any other airline (like oneworld or EK?) JQ is a possible exception, but that's debateable.
Remember current Qantas Club guest passes are only valid for guests on QF operated services IIRC. No reason for QF to push, even partially, their passengers to purchase EK or CX or whoever and use the pass (those other airlines would like it since every access to a QF lounge for a "partner airline" passenger results in a charge to that carrier).
I still think, as I posted the other day, that QF could make much of goalposts during SC earn - both within a membership year (the 2400 SC level being a very good example) and over the course of an earn lifetime (eg: at the 7k LTSC earn) but they can do so much more to encourage more spend/travel over time.
I mean you use your "once in a lifetime" pass... then what? but what if you might get another if you fly another 4000 SC's worth?
To me this is the same argument as the calls for QF offering Life Time Platinum (LTP) status - once you hit the 14k LTSC level, there's really no further advantage, short of keeping current QF status, retaining WP or WP1 etc but otherwise there's no incentive - many on AFF jump ship post attaining LTG as a result. I am not saying adding LTP would keep a lot, or further SC goals, but it may encourage more to stay "loyal" (or rather, "bound") to QFF as opposed to AA or BA or perhaps even the Star Alliance etc
just my 2 cents.
